Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christine Lynes . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christine , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
One thing I have done differently than the industry standard when it comes to the CreativeSOULyoga brand is that I’ve integrated all the creative powers invested in me by the Universe into this brand. I haven’t allowed myself to become stuck within just one facet of my Universal gifts, for example, the studio yoga. I’ve expanded and evolved and created a beautiful line of designer fashion wear for women that uses my fine art paintings to create gorgeous printed boho blouses and scarfs, purses and bags, a bathing suit and beachwear line and a line of yoga pants with my collaborators Vida design studios (California). I’ve thrown various creative female empowerment events that bring female creatives together to merge ideas, and articulate creatively so to leverage themselves in their field. I’ve offered clarity coaching to individuals who want to evolve and show up in more impactful ways in which to thrive all aspects of their lives; professionally, personally and spiritually, and I run a virtual studio where people all over North America can practice the healing arts of yoga and inspirational fitness. I’ve done all of this under the branded reality which is CreativeSOULyoga.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am Christine Therese Lynes and my background is as artist. I’ve been a painter since I was a child and continued pursuing my art in specialized programs in all levels of school, completing two university degrees in the field of fine arts visual art. I trained as a yoga teacher and mindfulness coach in my early twenties and this became a steadfast way in which I both interact with the world and express myself. I have taught yoga for twenty years. A decade ago I decided to brand CreativeSOULyoga and begin doing my own thing; creative empowerment retreats, studio yoga/virtual yoga and mindfulness classes, yoga experiences and retreats of course CreativeSOULyoga apparel, my line of beautiful yoga inspired boho women’s wear. These items are in collaboration with Vida design studios in California and can be purchased through my website as well as several yoga studios and venues across the USA and Canada.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
The pandemic really hit hard within my industry (yoga & fitness). After numerous attempts to keep the studio open and business running as usual I had to sit back and meditate, and realize the truth of the situation. A guiding principle in yoga is the ability to, “go with the flow” and at that moment I relaxed into the situation, and closed the doors of the studio and not knowing what the future held, I decided to travel for inspiration. I’m a single mom, so I packed up my kids and took the a small nest egg of funds I had left and traveled across the globe for four consecutive months, visiting eleven different islands in the South Pacific. As a single mom with two kids in tow during a global pandemic you can imagine that there were some challenges on this pilgrimage but, ultimately, we had a grand adventure! I now realize it was the fuel I needed to stay creative and resilient so I could come back eventually and rebuild. I re-opened the studio in 2023 January and I have been sharing CreativeSOULyoga apparel with more of the world since early this year. CreativeSOULyoga events is set to launch more retreats this summer and I’m thrilled to say that it is starting to feel like we are evolving despite the challenges of this pandemic! Onward and upward!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
The story I had to unlearn was that I couldn’t create my dream business empire on my own! I used to always be looking to partner with others but the pandemic really did push me to stand on my own two feet and get everything down alone! It was terrifying but also empowering and it is helping me realize my parallel dream of supporting women by throwing multi-day female creatives empowerment retreats across the US and Canada, designing and offering workshops and online virtual events that specifically support female creatives and entrepreneurs, artists and spiritualists in meeting and exceeding their dreams.
