We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christine Lord. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christine below.
Christine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
Prior to starting my business I was working as a Paralegal. I was a single mother of a wonderful son, Jacob, When Jacob was 7 I went to law school. Upon graduation I reentered the workforce and began to study for the Florida Bar Exam. Update… I failed. I was not into it, my health was suffering, and I had little to no energy left to be a woman, let alone a mother. I needed to take back some control. I started with getting rid of all the clutter and objects I have been holding on to in my home. As I progressed I became lighter. I was being physically active and began noticing as I became organized, so did my mind. I was cleaning my linen closet, when I had the thought about how others would benefit from this. That idea was a seed. I began researching products, how to organize, and what it took. There wasn’t much out there for resources. This was before the organization became a popular show. I figured the best way to start was truly by doing. My Mum was my first client. She purchased all the products and I went through her whole house. I figured if I could work with my own Mother (sorry, Mum) then I could work with anyone. That was 2019 and I will never not be grateful that she allowed me to start with her. My business has only grown from there. We offer amazing services and concepts to our clients. We create functional interior spaces to maximize storage, as well as value. We work with builders and interior designers to bring a white glove level of service and detail to the building and moving process. We create the ultimate luxury home experience for our clients, from home amenities and outfitting to home branding. We are the ultimate luxury Estate Concierge Service. So much so that we just launched our new brand identity. Luxure Lifestyle. We don’t just create homes, we create a lifestyle. The scariest decision I had to make was the decision to change everything with our rebrand and identity, but with the help of my amazing team, I know it is the right choice for the company. Growing and changing is scary, but it is in those moments that you learn the most about yourself and what you can accomplish. I look forward to bringing our brand and message nationwide.
Christine, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I started my business as a 36 year old single mother and fully launched during 2020. You remember the year… It was not the best time to be launching a business where you needed to be in homes and touching peoples personal items. However, I was more afraid not to take the risk. Not to go after the life I wanted for myself and to create. I wanted to work for myself, yes, but more importantly I wanted to bring the feeling of an organized home to others. It has been so fun watching this brand and business evolve to what it is today. We are able to provide our client’s with their time and peace of mind back. Whether that is organizing a closet or managing a building process. We handle it all. We want our client’s to enjoy their homes, know where everything is and have it at their fingertips. Luxure Lifestyle creates the luxury experience in homes. Think of the Ritz, Four Seasons, or any other luxury resort. We bring that experience to your homes. We are your own personal Estate Concierge Service. Our client’s entrust us to take care of their homes, stock them full of the most amazing groceries and products, and create the sense of being on vacation while at home.
Can you open up about a time when you had a really close call with the business?
A couple years into my business I went to my first conference with other organizers. I remember speakers discussing how they started to become more consistent with business around year 3. So as I was approaching year 3 I am thinking ok anytime now. I am 5 years in and I am still worried how I am going to meet all of my financial responsibilities. It has been a tough road, but it has been worth it. There are times where it is too close for comfort, but the next thing always happens. The next client, the next opportunity, the next encouraging word. My advice is when you truly believe in yourself and what you are doing, it will get better. I am self funded. I know it is hard, but keep the ownership to yourself as long as you can. Take the risk. Ask the family member for a loan to get by (again, thanks Mum), but do not give up. All of the struggles will be worth it. I listened to a lot of business podcasts and stories and they all spoke about the failures and trials. That is where the lessons are. Instead of looking at the problem, find the solution. That is what my business is all about and I truly believe that. Find the positive and lesson in the situation.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
Do you ever just meet someone and click? That is exactly what happened with me and Becky. I was introduced to her and immediately knew she was my person. Becky came to fill in on a job to help organize one day and I kept her. This was 2 years ago now. Becky has a background in real estate and was a franchise owner. Her knowledge and expertise has helped our clients make financially valuable decisions while building/renovating their homes. Her eye for details and diligence rival my own. Her CFO and Spreadsheet vibes has made both me and this company better. Luxure Lifestyle would not be what it is today without her. I am forever grateful for the moment we met. When strong women get together, there is truly no stopping us..
