We were lucky to catch up with Christine Hall recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christine, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful, I believe it takes a combination of factors. First and foremost, having a clear vision is crucial. It’s important to know where you want to go and what you want to achieve. This vision acts as a guiding light, providing direction and purpose.
However, a vision alone is not enough. Taking action steps towards that vision is equally important. It’s about breaking down your goals into manageable tasks and consistently working towards them. This requires energy, dedication, and perseverance.
In my own journey, I have found that listening to my intuition plays a significant role. Cultivating a strong connection with your inner self and trusting your instincts can guide you towards inspired next steps. Meditation has been a valuable practice for me to quiet the noise, gain clarity, and tap into my intuition.
The “mystical” part, that takes faith, is aligning to the energy of already having or achieving your vision. What would you do differently in your life if you already had the success you seek? Make space for that.
Furthermore, success is intertwined with effective time management. It’s about prioritizing tasks, scheduling them into your daily routine, and staying committed to your vision. By allocating time for important activities and eliminating distractions, you can make progress towards your goals.
Manifestation also plays a role in achieving success. By visualizing and believing in your dreams, you can attract the opportunities and resources needed to turn them into reality. This positive mindset and belief in the possibilities can fuel your motivation and keep you focused.
Ultimately, success is a journey that requires consistent effort, self-reflection, and a commitment to personal growth. It’s about staying true to your vision, taking inspired action, and persevering through challenges. By aligning your actions with your aspirations and staying dedicated, you can bring your dreams to fruition.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a creative entrepreneur and nomadic digital creator. I run a small creative agency helping clients with graphic design, marketing, and content creation. From photography to brand strategy, I aim at helping heart centered businesses increase their impact through visual design.
I began my first business at the age of 15, making and selling jewellery, vintage clothing, and antiques online. On the weekends, I’d drive to thrift stores to find gems, and then upsell them online.
From there, I began my first clothing line at 16, and launched a successful Etsy business to fund my way through university. Entrepreneurship was always in my blood, and I’ve always been excited to create, design, and grow brands.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
So many things! I’d like to shed light on the degree of flexibility needed in this ever evolving space that we know as the internet.
The main aspect that can be particularly difficult to grasp is the need for resiliency and the ability to thrive in uncertainty. Unlike more traditional career paths, creative endeavours usually lack consistent projects and income streams.
As a creative, I have experienced the ebb and flow of work and the ever-changing landscape of the industry. Projects can come and go, and income can be unpredictable. This can be unsettling for those who are accustomed to a more stable and structured professional environment. However, it is precisely in these moments of uncertainty that creativity flourishes.
To navigate these challenges, a great level of trust in oneself and self-reliance is required. It takes courage to embrace the unknown and pivot through different projects and cycles. Trusting in our abilities and instincts becomes essential as we make decisions and execute our ideas.
Furthermore, the creative field is constantly evolving. New technologies, tools, and programs emerge, and trends shift rapidly. Adapting to these changes and staying relevant requires a growth-oriented mindset. It means being open to learning, experimenting, and embracing new possibilities. The ability to adapt to these changes and continuously upskill is crucial for sustained success.
Thriving as a creative also involves embracing the inherent risks and uncertainties that come with pursuing a creative path. It’s about accepting that not every idea or project will succeed, but finding value and growth in the process itself. Embracing failure as a learning opportunity and remaining resilient in the face of setbacks are key traits of a creative journey.
In short, non-creatives may struggle to understand the need for resiliency and thriving in uncertainty that is inherent in the creative journey. The ability to navigate through inconsistent projects and income, while adapting to changing technologies and embracing growth, requires a unique set of skills and a mindset that values exploration and self-reliance. It is through these challenges that creatives find their true strength and unleash their full potential.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have always been an influencer, whether I knew the term or not.
I was a Myspace “influencer” at the time with 50,000 people following me. And then I grew my Tumblr, a blog, to 9,000 followers in 3 months. I’d write about my life, post things that inspired me, curating my “corner of the world” on the internet. A lot of what I wrote about was my feelings of anxiety, emotional struggles, and feeling out of place in this world. I think being vulnerable before it was more socially acceptable drew the right people in.
It’s always been natural for me to be vulnerable on the internet, decorated with a side of beautifully curated imagery.
I was one of the first users on Instagram. From my blog, many people followed me on the platform and posting consistently led to more growth. Eventually it became a travel blog and a photo-journal of my life on the road.
I think it’s a matter of staying true to yourself, being authentic and not in a trendy way, but really sharing slivers of your soul and what lights your spirit on fire. Of course consistency is key, and interacting with your audience is crucial for growth.
