We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christine Germain. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christine below.
Christine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Some of the most interesting parts of our journey emerge from areas where we believe something that most people in our industry do not – do you have something like that?
Most people believe that Traditionally publish authors are far more successful and are more elite within the writers world as opposed to Independently Published Authors. I believe that every writer whether you’re a beginner or have mastered the status of l literary pro, all authors have one thing in common and that is to tell stories. Stories that take you into imaginative worlds where you’re immersed as a reader.
Independent Authors are talented, gifted, crafted artist that have so much to offer in literature but are shunned; told they are not good enough. Told that if they really believed in themselves they would have made the effort to send query letters to major agents and publishing houses.
No one ever thought that maybe most indie Authors would rather take the initiative and have more control of there work where it is isn’t debased or dissected by gatekeepers to fit what mainstream would want.
As an independent author I hope that all authors can be seen as an equal force. A force to change the narrative and the way readers look at us. We are worth more than how we are perceived.
Indie Authors are changing the world; You just have to open your eyes to see.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My Name is Christine Germain and I am from New York. I am an award winning Author, and I write Young adult Dark Horror and Mystery Thrillers.
I started on my writing journey at the age of eleven. I fell in love with reading stories by R.L Stine, Christopher Pike and Stephen King. A fan of all that is supernatural, I found myself writing short stories from a young girl and well into my young adult years.
Although I decided to take a long break, telling stories was always something
i was deeply passionate about. Later on in my adult years I took a chance and rewrote a story I created at the age of Twelve . The book is called The Brother’s Curse which is a wonderful supernatural, horror series that caters all that welcome diversity.
My goal with my work is to bring readers together in unity. My writing style
Is different from most and has a unique touch which makes you feel as if you are part of the story. Part of the characters.
I promote tales that showcase characters of different races, genders and different sexual orientations. That means my work isn’t targeted to only one demographic. It is for men, woman, lgbtq etc….
I’ve dedicated myself to shinning light on how important works by POC matter especially for woman of color. Life can throw stones at you but I was taught that no matter how many times you fall; you keep getting back up and fight for what you believe in and I am proud of myself and how far I’ve come as an writer.
I want fans, followers, and readers to know that I produce stories that matter, that take on topics of the real world but still showcase all nationalities in beautiful ways and not the typical stereotype tropes we tend to read in novels.
I want to make a difference in the writing world as a woman of color who shows that we too can be the voice and face of something different;; something positive, something new.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I connected with avid readers and my ways of marketing attracted an audience. I usually post custom drawn illustrations of characters of my novel, I do Love book readings, interviews, podcast, book trailers and many more. This is a way for people to get to know my work and what it’s about.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes… I would love to adapt my novels into films one day.
