Christine, appreciate you joining us today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
If I was starting over I would tell myself that you cannot make everyone happy. When I first started I would let clients have services at a lower price to make them happy. In the end I was losing out. So I would tell my younger self you are worth it charge your worth.

Hi my name is Christine Drown, I got into this industry in 2000 and have now been in business for myself for 6 years and love every moment of it. I specialize in Mago hair extensions and Balayage. We carry Kevin Murphy hair products and Capelli hair extensions. We offer a hair happy hour every Wednesday and Thursday from 12-5 and all day Sunday. Come by and check us out!
Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?
This is a ruff question but after we opened back up from covid closures bills did not stop during the closure and I was very limited on cash flow. Had to borrow money from a friend to cover payroll. Was a humbling experience as I hate asking for help. But in the end everything worked out. I’m sure lots of small business had similar issues.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
My most effective strategy is word of mouth. We cross collaborate with other local businesses that we support. But like the old saying goes 1 happy customer will bring another but 1 angry one will deferr 5 more.
