Hi Christine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve known that making an impact through the world of business was my destiny from a very young age.
From childhood games of building a clothing boutique where I imagined myself a shopkeeper in the basement of my parents home, to later dreaming of being a corporate consultant who would come into struggling businesses and be the catalyst that would turn them around – I saw the world of business as a place where people lived their biggest dreams every day.
Business to me has always been about creativity and problem solving and connecting with other human beings while being of service.
Like many, I followed the traditional path. I began my journey by studying and completing an undergraduate degree in business at the University of Victoria Canada and and joining the corporate world. As I continued to work my way up the corporate ladder working in 9 unrelated industries holding jobs in marketing, sales and business development as well as operations, I also completed an MBA in International Business at the University of Edinburgh Scotland with a semester at the ENCP in Paris France. Eventually this journey, led me to starting my my own business initially as a side hustle that kept growing exponentially.
Along the way, I’ve had epic triumphs and epic failures all of which have been stepping stones of lived experience.
My ability to create wealth for others in business (supporting over 400 companies to create a combined revenue in excess of $1B to date) has made me both a sought after employee as well as strategic advisor and consultant.
As the owner of CLEAR Acceleration Inc. I support small business owners around the world and serve as a business mentor and strategic advisor helping them to create a client growth engine.
My mantra is that business growth CAN be elegantly simple – however building the foundations will always require focused effort. When you build solid foundations, you will find the keys to longevity, profitability and possibility.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The hardest lesson I’ve learned repeatedly in the world of business is that not all leaders, regardless of their job titles or budget responsibility, live by the same values and integrity that I do.
I’ve come to learn that one cannot control how others behave however, you do have 100% control of how you show up in the world.
Strength of character either creates opportunities or limits them and character is built on the choices you make every day.
The first time I learned this lesson, was when I was just starting out my career.
I found myself released from a role with a large severance package unexpectedly despite a strong performance review.
It turns out my married boss had offered my job to another female on staff with whom he was having an affair with.
As my role involved corporate travel, he decided that he would offer her my role, so they could travel together and enjoy their romance without his his wife suspecting his infidelity. It did not matter that the other staff member was not qualified for the role, or that I had just had a great performance review only 2 months prior. What mattered was his decision that would impact all of our lives.
Not only was the his personal decision hard to reconcile, so was the response from the HR department. Their response was to advise me to accept the severance offered and simply to move on and find another role as I had a bright future ahead of me instead of challenging this director’s decisions.
Regardless of the shock, the reality was I was without a job.
As I look back now, I am so appreciative of the advice I was given by my parents at the time.
The advised me not to judge others by their choices or their personal values. Instead they guided me to focus my energy on building my character and deciding the kind of leader I wanted to be in the business world and even at a young age, I knew I wanted to be a leader of integrity.
This means I’ve fought and lobbied for what I believe in, even when the personal costs have been high.
I’ve acted in good faith and followed through on my commitments to others even when decisions were not convenient , comfortable or popular.
As a result of this personal standard that I’ve set, I am a sought after mentor and strategic advisor to other business owners needing counsel as they navigate leading and managing business growth.
