Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Bonipart-Johnson.
Hi Christine, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Stitches N Bloom was created out of a love for art, creativity, upcycling vintage textiles, and a passion for sustainable fashion. To do my part by reducing what is taken to the landfills and designing pieces of wearable art is truly rewarding.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My struggles lie in the marketing, social media side of the business. I am not that savvy in the technical side of things, so the time and energy I need to dedicate is a challenge. I would much rather be designing and sewing my beautiful garments. Through all of my techie struggles, I still preserve and find the balance needed to make the business successful.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I love to take vintage textiles and create one-of-a-kind pieces. I study the design of each pre-loved textile to find the perfect placement for the pattern and give it new life. Making it into a statement piece brings so much joy. Then, seeing it admired and proudly worn by a client is the icing on the cake. I feel the textile has come full circle from pre-loved to re-loved.
Pricing:
- My pricing is based on the initial investment of the textile. The vintage quilts are hand pieced, hand sewn. They are pieces of history that is not replicated today.
