We recently connected with Christine Blanchette and have shared our conversation below.
Christine, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I can’t remember not having an interest in media, though it became my passion after working at a local television station and seeing firsthand how the stories were created. I began writing a running and fitness column in 2005 for a weekly newspaper, learning early on it’s about relating stories that could inspire people to get moving. My column was picked up by the Sherbrooke Record, which is Quebec’s second-largest English language newspaper and close to my home town of Richmond, QC. As a natural extension of writing, my attention circled back to broadcast media, having had training at Rogers TV. This led to creating my own TV show, Run With It, which is Canada’s only running, fitness and health show, airing on broadcast and online. My other show is The Closing Act, which profiles movers and shakers in the entertainment industry.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born in Ontario, raised in Quebec, moving to Vancouver, BC in 1989. My passion for running and fitness has led to a rewarding career. Run With It is a monthly show broadcast twice daily on Novus TV (TELUS), Healthy Living Network, Optik TV, and my YouTube channel. I interview health professionals to keep viewers informed and inspired. The Closing Act is primarily about up and coming musicians who provide unique insights to their lives and careers. I’ve done red carpet events for the value of staying connected in the entertainment industry while enhancing my networking opportunities.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
Most rewarding to me is inspiring others to engage in physical activity while promoting physical literacy. My platform has grown over the years, which tells me I’m on the right track.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
I take great satisfaction in helping others, whether it be those ready to jump on the fitness bandwagon or those entertainers who could use my platform for added exposure. I am in the process of having both shows available on live streaming. This will bring more viewers and sponsorship opportunities.
