We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christine B. a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Along with taking care of clients, taking care of our team is one of the most important things we can do as leaders. Looking back on your journey, did you have a boss that was really great? Maybe you can tell us about that boss and what made them a wonderful person to work for?
The Victory Casino Cruises is by far the best working experience I have ever had for several different reasons. (1) I was first hired as an Entertainer back in 2015. From there, I was given the opportunity to work with very nice people, treated very fair, and my show band has been featured in the company for numerous events. (2) I was since then hired as the Entertainment A&R Consultant. (3) Victory Casino Cruises supported me in my decision to achieve my talent agent license. (4) During an emergency medical situation, the company has been there for me.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a licensed Talent Agent. I started off years ago as a professional Recording Artist/Actress/Model/Producer/
BVIP Global is an international brand based out of Florida with extensions as far as New England, Belize, Atlanta, and Mexico; we strive to place talent throughout the world, due to my live for travel. I have sold some of my music to artists in different parts of the world. Hopefully, we will continue to make global connections at any given time. No venue is too big or too small; there is always a deal to be made, and room for an entertainment profile anywhere. BVIP is responsible for producing events for weddings, galas, corporate companies, private affairs, family gatherings, local venues, festivals, red carpet events; We also provide actors/actresses/models, professional studio background vocalists, studio vocal arrangements; all live entertainment aspects including karaoke and DJ; glam for events, and most importantly, we are a booking agency.
If I have learned anything within the past two years, or asked to give advice to anyone, it would be to keep your circle small, plus resonate your energy extremely positive. Focus on all the good things, and build your business with the best integrity. Never pay attention to what anyone else is doing; because that is when you get side-tracked. Always remain true to yourself and believe in your purpose. BVIP is just that; to “be VIP”…helping other people.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One thing I have learned over time is that people are always going to have a false perception of you until they actually sit down and have a cup of coffee with you. It’s just the way life is, and we must accept it. I studied Sociology in college, and society will always move and change with fads. Social media effects everything in this day and age; Sadly, it effects the moods of people. However, social media is the biggest marketing tool in the world.
Stop apologizing to folks who do not understand you, especially if you did nothing wrong. In the arts and entertainment industry, there are a lot of folks who are going to be very critical of your work. My advice is to just be the best version of yourself; do your work with your best foot forward with love and passion.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The saying is true: “For every 100 people that will tell you no, there will be 1 person to say yes.” I can’t even tell you how many phone calls and emails I follow up with as far as different clients and venues. Some tell me “no.” In fact, a lot tell me “no.” However, a lot of people tell me “yes.” It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to build your business. Everyone has their own “nitch.” You have to find what works best for you.
