We were lucky to catch up with Christina Willis recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I came up with Astralotea after studying astrology for about two years. It’s Astralotea instead of Astrolotea because the latter was already taken on Instagram. However, Astral fits better because Astralotea is really about our relationship to the astral realm as a whole. I was halfway through my junior year of college and initially just wanted to make informational videos about astrology. But it ended up turning into a space for overall spiritual wellness. The problem I felt like I was fixing was the lack of accurate astrology knowledge available to people.

Christina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
In 2020 I was introduced to a Sidereal astrologer who was gaining a lot of popularity on Twitter at the time. I fell in love with their work and approach to astrology, and at that point I had never heard of Sidereal. I was going through my first break up, which like many others had led me to a spiritual awakening. I sell personal astrology readings that help people navigate relationships, employment, money, health, emotions, their life purpose, and anything else someone may need guidance and direction on. I am most proud of Astralotea’s commitment to integrity and honesty. Many people today and in the past have used spirituality in dishonest ways to harm people. Astralotea is here to remind folks that the real purpose of spirituality is healing, not harm.

Have you ever had to pivot?
I’m in the midst of a pivot right now. For the last four years I have been exclusively studying one type of astrology and now I am transitioning to studying and practicing Vedic or Indian astrology instead. There is a pretty significant language and cultural gap that this change requires I navigate, but so far it has been totally worth it.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients is always word of mouth. No matter how many Tiktoks I make or infographics I post, the majority of my clients have always been recommended by other previous clients. In that way, the best source of new clients is always gonna come from providing such an unforgettable service that people can’t stop talking about you!
