Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christina Welch. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Christina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
When I think back on what I’ve done for more than 20+ years, it’s this: making an impact, building confidence, and empowering women through style IS the heartbeat of what I’ve done. What I do today with House of Colour San Antonio – North does just that, too: I help women (and men!) look and feel amazing in the colors and styles that are best for them through personal color analysis that’s rooted in color science and through style analysis, offer a holistic approach that takes into account a person’s frame and build, marrying that with styles that suit their individual personality that then allows them to show up in the world in a way that is authentically themselves. Alone these two services are impactful, and together they’re powerful in unlocking simplicity, eliminating decision fatigue on ‘what to wear’, and looking their very best every day.
Whatever platform I’ve had, whether it was my position as the Public Relations Manager for Macy’s in Texas to building and leading a multi-million dollar sales organization with the social-selling brand Stella & Dot; championing local businesses through my 2005 book “Wear to Shop” to representing the City of San Antonio to talk Texas Style on the Today Show with Kathie Lee & Hoda, sharing tips, tricks, strategies, and more, I’ve always believed that fashion and style have the power to work from the outside in and the inside out – when you look good, you feel good; and when you feel good, it emanates from the inside out.
My mission and work that I do today with House of Colour was born partly out of curiosity – it was mid-2020 when my social channels began to buzz with before-and-after photos of women in their best colors – and partly out of sitting in a season of feeling lost and overwhelmed on the direction I wanted to take myself professionally. When I finally decided to investigate what the possibilities were in this space, I got in my car, drove 6 hours round trip for my own color analysis, followed it up with style analysis and the rest as they say, is history! House of Colour San Antonio – North opened in February 2021 and has transformed the closets and lives of hundreds and hundreds of women and men!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

ABOUT STYLE ANALYSIS
Style Analysis teaches you how to create a wardrobe that allows you to look your best every day. Your personality is also taken into account because authenticity is part of creating a wardrobe that reflects confidence, trustworthiness, authority and beauty. Style Analysis with House of Colour San Antonio – North is designed to provide guidelines about styles of clothing that will work best for YOU for the rest of your life, regardless of what fashion is doing. You’ll get a detailed workbook and personal notes, and a plethora of knowledge that will enhance the way you dress and shop for yourself!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
First, I believe that being open to pivots – major or micro – is the only way grow. Knowing when to time them is key; you never want to pivot on a bad day. It’s part thought and part gut instinct, at least in my experience, that is! As for a specific example I’ve had, I’d say that the most significant pivot professionally for me came when I became a mom and my currency of choice shifted from fulfillment in a corporate setting to control over my time so I could flex around family. I resigned from my position to be home with our newborn son and over the next few years, sought out flexible channels for work, doing freelance public relations and events, writing my book, and exploring other entrepreneurial opportunities. That’s when social selling entered my world and I took a chance on an industry about which I knew nothing and went all in – all because of my love for a pair of earrings! It was through that that I realized the enormous potential of the channel, rising to the top of the company and industry. It was the perfect fit for my life during that season, and the education, grit, and experience I gained was invaluable and my results exceeded my wildest dreams. My boys were 1 and 4 when I began that endeavor and today, at 15 and 18, flexible entrepreneurship, being able to run a business during the day, controlling how I spend my time AND be available for my children and their activities is the greatest gift of that early pivot.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Hands down, there are two primary sources for clients: referrals/word of mouth and Instagram. There are others, of course, but the endorsement a client can give is sharing their authentic experience with family and friends is the highest honor a business owner can receive. Instagram is the primary social media channel that draws people in, and with House of Colour’s footprint among franchise owners and the collaboration that happens between all of us combined with my desire to create and produce content that is educational, aspirational, and fun, this is a medium that time and time again generates attention and brings in new clients consistently.
