We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christina Watkins a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
As a certified health coach, I work with many women are looking to lose weight and improve their overall health. These women are done with the chronic dieting and ready to make sustainable changes so they can feel their best. They are in it for the long run.
Making changes to improve your health can be really daunting. My approach is to take things one step at a time. We keep things simple, because we don’t have time for “complicated”.
I recently worked with a woman who spent a majority of her life dieting. She was used to the plethora of rules and restrictions. She was desperate to improve her health. Have more energy. A higher quality of life. Not rely on blood pressure meds. Fit into standard clothing. She was exhausted every.single.day.
We began working together and took it week by week, day by day. We made small edits to her nutrition to support her blood sugar, found ways to improver her sleep quality and manage stress and started incorporating movement,
She stayed committed every single day, through the ups and downs. She had client lunches, business events, birthday celebrations, trips and not once was she anxious because she had the tools to ensure she could navigate those events with ease and keep her blood sugar nice and steady.
In the 3 months we worked together she lost over 21lbs* and gained a better quality of life, energy that she hasn’t experienced in a long time, confidence when it comes to her food, better sleep so she can be productive in her job, and a new wardrobe!
It is so important to keep things simple. Focus on one habit at a time and build from there.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi! I’m Christina, and I am a health coach, wellness expert and founder of The Wellness Concierges.
Being healthy should be easy, not complicated.
I struggled with my health starting at such a young age. I was overweight, suffered from extreme anxiety and lead myself into pre-diabetes. I had high levels of inflammation, slept poorly, I was addicted to sugar and had no energy to keep up with life. I changed my career and set off on a mission to learn everything I could about blood sugar, hormones, losing weight and how to do it in a sustainable manner and make it a lifestyle in an effort to reach optimal health myself…
In my search to master everything about health and wellness, I completely transformed my health. I lost 60 lbs, reduced my blood sugar levels and got rid of all my symptoms.
I knew I wanted to help others do the same.
Over the last 6 years, I have worked with countless clients who all had their own unique health journey.
They also had demanding jobs, families to manage, hectic schedules, a busy social life, stress, health issues that all made the journey that much harder. They just wanted to feel and look their best. To be their healthiest self….and I wanted to figure out a way to make this easier. Because we know finding optimal health is a journey that never ends.
That is how T H E W E L L N E S S C O N C I E R G E S was created.
My goal is to provide you the tools and resources you need to cultivate wellness in your own lives in the easiest way possible.
I look forward to working with you on your journey to optimal wellness.
Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
I think not getting caught up on the wellness trends. Do your own research, read the books, listen to podcasts and make informed opinions. Never stop learning.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Referrals! Receiving referrals from past clients really says a lot to me as not only a business owner but a health coach. Referrals have been the most effective way in growing my clientele.
