We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christina Walker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Christina, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?

In order to be successful you must have a well-written vision and a solid business practice that allows practical laws and rules. Competitive prices and valuable services. you need this model to follow for consistency. Working with integrity, to gain the trust of your clientele. Taking accountability as a business owner with fair and quality services. You also need Great Marketing Strategies and financial discipline.

Christina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m an Interior Designer for 12 years now, My love started in childhood and grew into my adult years. I was very impressed with my grandmother’s creativity to decorate and change their homes I always paid attention to the small details in everything they did in their homes.

I decided to take it more seriously and I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design and quickly worked my way into the field as an Interior Designer/ Project manager. Serving in different areas of design from Retail, Multi-Family, and Commercial to corporate hospitality design and now residential. After gaining much experience and knowledge I thought I had found my home for retirement in corporate America. but I was rudely mistaken when the pandemic hit and I was faced with layoffs along with thousands from the company I worked for. It wasn’t a hard transition at all.

I knew exactly what my next move was. To focus and build on my own business as a Designer, where I could control my time. This would allow me much more freedom in my creative thinking and expressions of my work by not having to follow a bunch of corporate guidelines and rules and being limited.

In the last 3 years, I have been working on my business and I must say the growth and journey from year to year have been Amazing! I Am now a full-service Design Company, for all interior projects and Renovations of all sizes, I also own a candle line and working on additional products coming soon! Every day I am solving unique designs Challenging in space planning, Color enhancement in homes to brighten and maximize space for my clients. To give them a home that is tranquil, peaceful, inviting, and represents the best version of who they are.

In my business the things I am most proud of are that I show up as my most Authentic self, I work with 100% integrity the trust of my clients is my top priority, and with their trust, I am able to present the best design and deliver the perfect space for their home/Business. with C. For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

One of the most rewarding aspects is being able to create a vision for a client who has no idea what they want but they trust me and the process to get it done, once this happens I can gather enough information about them to create from little information. And When the outcome is finished they are overly excited and satisfied with words of gratitude. That is the biggest reward for me!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?

The goal is to create beautiful and functioning spaces for my clients. I want people to be happy and peaceful in their homes. I love to see a story of a person in their home, I love small details that are nicely curated in their space. Also on a larger scale, my mission is to give new creatives an opportunity to work come learn and grow, to also give back to families and communities in need. To grow several firms globally that can handle large-scale residential, hospitality, and commercial design projects. To be a globally recognized, financially solid, and well-trusted company.
