We were lucky to catch up with Christina Specos recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, appreciate you joining us today. Can you recount a time when the advice you provided to a client was really spot on? (Please note this response is for education/entertainment purposes only and shouldn’t be construed as advice for the reader)
The best advice I ever gave to a client was to be ok with being different. This encompases a LOT of life scenarios they can encounter.
When I work with clients, we are continually in communication on a regular basis. For me, their health and fitness journey goes FAR beyond workout plans and diets. It is about changing their lives, one decision at a time, and interestingly, many people experience pushback when making a health, fitness and lifestyle change.
No one around them seems to support or get to understand the process, but they LOVE to see the result.
I help my clients connect to their own process, teasing out what worked before, what didn’t work before, who and what they envision for their future selves, what has been in the way of them achieving that next level, and of course, teasing out the “issues” that pop up along the way.
Clients of mine who have had toxic friends, peer pressure, and lack of self esteem have all benefited from my coaching support beyond just “carbs and cardio” as I jokingly describe it, because it’s not about WHAT to do but HOW TO DO IT CONSISTENTLY, and subsequently why their habits and patterns don’t allow them to continue with consistency.
Their results consistently are a greater sense of self satisfaction, pride, confidence and the guts to take risks while maintaining resiliency to navigate what comes their way.
This is SO much more than “oh I just want to lose 10 pounds and ‘tone up’ my booty,” right? haha!
One of my clients finally built the confidence to say NO to things and people who no longer serve her, to separate from toxic habits that kept her overeating and repeating the same detrimental though processes and eating patterns, and thus got so excited about what is POSSIBLE for her, and became a fanatic for the daily experiences and changes and results along the way.
She embraced the journey and I can’t be more proud of the internal transformation she’s experiencing, while also hearing the praise from those whom notice the external aesthetic changes as well.
Lastly, and to the most obvious point, this client also benefited from the result of praise from her doctor for improving her health markers, while concurrently fitting into nicer and smaller sized clothing, and feeling stronger as a result of her gym efforts.
THIS is a win all the way around and is why I coach! <3

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Absolutely, let me paint a more vivid picture of what makes my approach stand out in a sea of online fitness coaches. My journey into the fitness industry wasn’t just a casual dip; it’s been a lifelong commitment fueled by a deep passion for helping others unlock their true potential. With over two decades of experience and a master’s degree under my belt, my expertise isn’t just skin-deep. It’s grounded in a solid foundation of knowledge and hands-on practice.
What truly sets me apart is the level of genuine care and attention I pour into each and every one of my clients. While others may see them as just numbers on a screen, I see real people with real goals, dreams, and struggles. I don’t just send out generic workout plans and call it a day; I’m there with them every step of the journey, offering guidance, motivation, and unwavering support.
But it’s not just about the quantity of care; it’s the quality. I’ve cultivated a mindset of servitude, always putting my clients’ needs above my own. It’s not about the money; it’s about making a meaningful difference in their lives. And that’s a mindset that can’t be faked or bought.
Sure, I face my fair share of challenges, just like anyone else. But what sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to growth and progress. I don’t let setbacks hold me back; I use them as fuel to propel me forward. Surrounding myself with a team of savvy, supportive individuals has been instrumental in overcoming obstacles and pushing past self-imposed limitations.
One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is the importance of taking action, even when things aren’t perfect. Perfection is the enemy of progress, and I refuse to let fear of failure hold me back. By embracing imperfection and taking calculated risks, I’ve been able to build a brand that stands for excellence, integrity, and authenticity.
At the core of my brand is the belief that you can have it all. You can be strong, smart, confident, and successful—all without sacrificing your happiness or authenticity. My brand isn’t just about fitness; it’s about empowering people to become the best possible version of themselves, inside and out.
So, if you’re tired of cookie-cutter fitness programs and superficial influencers, look no further. With me, you’re not just another client; you’re part of a community dedicated to achieving greatness. Together, we’ll shatter expectations, defy limitations, and prove that anything is possible when you believe in yourself.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Transitioning from a high-profile job to entrepreneurship has been a journey filled with valuable lessons, one of which was unlearning the need for absolute certainty and security. Back in the corporate world, everything seemed structured and predictable, providing a sense of stability that was comforting but ultimately limiting. However, stepping into the world of entrepreneurship shattered that illusion of security, plunging me into a realm of uncertainty and unpredictability.
The backstory behind this lesson is rooted in my deep desire for control and stability. In my previous career, I thrived on structure and clear-cut paths to success. But as I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey, I quickly realized that certainty was a luxury I could no longer afford. The landscape of business is ever-changing, filled with twists and turns that can throw even the most carefully laid plans off course.
Unlearning the need for certainty was a gradual process, marked by moments of doubt and fear. There were times when I felt lost and alone, questioning whether I had made the right decision to leave behind the security of my old life. But through those struggles, I came to understand that true growth lies on the other side of discomfort.
Embracing uncertainty became a catalyst for innovation and creativity, pushing me to think outside the box and adapt to new challenges. Instead of fearing the unknown, I learned to lean into it, trusting in my ability to navigate whatever obstacles came my way.
Now, I see uncertainty not as a threat, but as an opportunity for growth and exploration. It’s a reminder that life is full of surprises, and the most rewarding experiences often come from stepping outside of our comfort zones.
So, if there’s one lesson I’ve had to unlearn on this journey, it’s the idea that certainty equals security. In reality, true security comes from within, from having the courage to embrace uncertainty and trust in our own resilience. And that’s a lesson I’ll carry with me on every step of this entrepreneurial adventure.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Succeeding in my field goes beyond just training and knowledge; it’s about embodying authenticity, embracing real science and practice, and fostering genuine connections with my clients.
First and foremost, authenticity is paramount. In a world filled with cookie-cutter coaches and superficial influencers, clients crave authenticity more than ever. They want someone who’s not afraid to show their true self, flaws and all. By being authentic, I create a safe space for my clients to do the same, fostering a deeper level of trust and connection.
Next, real science and practice are essential pillars of success. In an industry saturated with fads and gimmicks, it’s crucial to cut through the noise and focus on what truly works. By staying up-to-date on the latest research and putting theory into practice, I ensure that my clients receive evidence-based guidance that delivers real results.
But perhaps most importantly, succeeding in my field requires genuine connections with my clients. Fitness isn’t just about lifting weights or counting calories; it’s about transforming lives and empowering individuals to become the best versions of themselves. By taking the time to truly understand my clients’ goals, struggles, and motivations, I can tailor my approach to meet their unique needs and foster meaningful, long-lasting change.
So, while training and knowledge are certainly important, it’s authenticity, real science and practice, and connection that truly set me apart as a coach and enable me to help my clients achieve their goals in a way that’s both effective and sustainable.
