Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christina Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christina , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
SUCCESS: When I googled the word success, it relates to purpose, accomplishment, desire, etc. I personally believe everyone can be successful. Success takes a lot of determination, strength, courage, and desire. There are times where you have to map out a plan, execute, and rely on results. Of course, there are plenty times where something may not work out the best or as planned, but I feel those are teaching moments for us to learn what failed and to push though with a different plan. You have to have the mindset to succeed!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
From a hobby, to a gift, to a business, Christina Ne’Cole has always loved taking photos. Started from an adolescent with a small kodak kids’ camera, to a digital camera, to a professional red Nikon 3100 camera. Who would have known that a hobby would turn into a successful full-time business? Starting from a room at her church in October 2013, to opening her own photography studio in 2016, Christina has captured special memories for families, weddings, seniors, events, and a few celebrity artists such as Erykah Badu, Phil Denny, Chrissy Lampkins, and Jekalyn Carr. Christina also has been premiered on local news stations and newspapers. After 9 years of a successful business, Christina’s goal is to continue spread positivity and create special memorial moments.
I feel like my determination and creativity sets me apart from others. My mind if always racing to be the best for my client. Everyone is different, and I truly feel like I need to relate to my client to make the photoshoot a more memorable experience.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One lesson that I had to unlearn is that everything will not be perfect or go as planned. I am a very detailed person and once vision is created, I expect for the vision to go through. Well sometimes it does not work like that. This are moments where we have to come up with an additional creative plan to meet the expectations of not only myself, but the expectations of the clients as well.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of my job is to create memories and moments with my clients. For a client to feel comfortable, have fun, and enjoy their experience is so important to me. Once those things are accomplished, then I know I have made a difference.
