We were lucky to catch up with Christina Richardson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
I wish I would had started modeling earlier when I was eighteen years old in college. I started my modeling career at the age of thirty-five years old living in Kansas. If I would had known about modeling when I was in college it would had made a big difference financially instead of being a struggling broke college student. If I would had started modeling earlier when I was eighteen, I would had better modeling opportunities. What would I had changed was talking to an agent first instead of wasting my time with photographers who dont know anyrhing about the modeling industry.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
How I got started in the industry was a local photographer name Steele had spotted me at a hair event and wanted me to model for him. I did my first photo shoot with him and I took those photos and submitted to Midwest Black Hair Magazine. The Editor of Midwest Black Hair Magazine liked my photos and I was featured in their upcomimg magazine. After that I became one of their featured models.
What sets me apart from others is I’m dependable, reliable, and understand the importance of being on time for a photo shoot. Not only that, but as a commercial/print model and a hand/parts model I understand the importance of selling the product.
What I’m most proud of is becoming a featured model for Kinflyte, Yemi Cosmetics, KC CHERIN, My Tea Garden, and for Bloomers Intimates. I’m also proud of becoming a hand/parts model. My hands and body parts have been seen on adverrtisements, on social media, billboards, and on websites. I enjoy being a hand/parts model the most. You can catch my hands modeling for Aussie Hair Care, Keurig, Yemi Cosmetics, Rosen Skincare, KC CHERIN Beauty, Sambucol, Unicorn Snot, and for My Tea Garden to name a few. Not only I’m a commercial/print model, hand model/parts model, but I do some acting. You can catch me in the Netflix Movie Look Both Ways. I played a L&D Nurse in the movie. I also play the alto saxophone and I’m in a local band.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
Yes, my goal is to show my 2 year old son you can do what you want whenever you want. Don’t let your age stop you!

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped build my reputation is being on time for gigs and for photo shoots. It’s important to be on time for a shoot cause sometimes they may want to go in a different direction. I’m usually like an hour to thirty minutes early for my gigs. I rather be on time for a shoot versus being late.
