Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christina Papa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
I work full time in an Operating room and about 6 years ago I found myself in a downward spiral of anxiety and depression unable to see beyond my feelings of doubt, shame and unworthiness. This began to interfere with my patient care as I was unable to focus on anything other than my fears. There was one day in particular where my anxiety ran so high I could not see the patient lying on the operating room table in front of me. This scared me deeply as I felt such a disconnect not only to myself but to what was happening around me
It was in this moment that I knew I needed help.
My past consisted of moving from one abusive situation to another never healing through my trauma I believed people when they told me I wasn’t good enough, I had very low self esteem, and for years I struggled with depression and imposter syndrome. All of which I wasn’t aware of until the moment when I realized I was having a breakdown. I felt isolated and invaluable. I relied on others to make me happy. I gave people way to much power. This ultimately lead me to my breakthrough… To breathwork. I had begun therapy and was introduced to the gifts of imperfection by Brene Brown. I could see myself so clearly in her work. For the first time. I began to seek out more information, I knew I needed to heal but I didn’t know how. I came across a book by Gabby Burnsteine the universe has your back. I added it to my cart but what landed in my cart instead was a book titled self healing through breathwork. The universe truly had my back. Not knowing what this was I went to delete it but in that moment my eyes were drawn to the words self healing and a little voice told me I needed to buy this book so I did. I began to read and practice the exercises In the book and it was through this work that I discovered the power of my breath. By working with my breath- mostly breathing low and slow extending my exhales inorder to really tap into my parasympathetic nervous system I was able to recognize my triggers. I could feel the anxiety rise in me and I could feel the physical sensations that came with it. I learned that when I had control of my breath I had control over my thoughts. This played a significant role in my healing. I was able to change the narrative and restore my relationship with myself. I had confidence again, and I felt safe to be vulnerable- to set my boundaries. I was finally making decisions that served me rather than trying to please everyone else. I felt empowered and I still do.
It was through this work on myself that I decided to become a wellness coach and founded ignite Your Fire Yoga Wellness- creating individualized care plans using the tools of Breathwork yoga mindfulness and intuitive Energetic Healing to help people learn to regulate their nervous system, to come out of their fears and to be happy living their most authentic life.

Christina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My background is diverse and multifaceted, reflecting my commitment to holistic well-being. As a Registered Practical Nurse, I understands the intricacies of the human body and the interconnectedness of physical and mental health. As a certified yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator, wellness coach, Reiki and Holy Light practitioner, I bring a unique blend of knowledge and experience to my work. I firmly believe that true, lasting transformation originates from within. My innovative approach to health and wellness seamlessly integrates the ancient wisdom of yoga, meditation, and breathwork with the power of intuitive energetic healing.
Through my own healing journey as I begun to connect with my breath and my mind, I realized that I had also become disconnected from my body. Trauma had created a sense of disembodiment, a feeling of being separate from my physical self. Breathwork Yoga and mindfulness became the bridge back to my body.
This combination of practices and regular healing sessions with both reiki and Holy Light Intuitive Energetic Healing helped me to release trapped emotions and to heal the physical and emotional wounds of trauma. I began to feel more comfortable in my own skin, more connected to my body, and more embodied in my life.
This lead me to work with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional challenges. I create a safe and supportive space for them to explore their inner landscape, to release trapped emotions, and to heal the wounds of the past. I teach them practical tools and techniques that they can use to manage their symptoms, to cultivate self-compassion, and to create a more fulfilling life.
My approach is holistic, recognizing the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. I believe that true healing comes from addressing the root causes of suffering, not just the symptoms. I empower my clients to become their own healers, to trust their intuition, and to step into their full potential.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
I believe experience is most helpful. I began my nursing career working in mental health and as much knowledge I had gained about helping those suffering with mental illness it wasn’t until I experienced depression and anxiety myself and actively had to put the work into my own healing everyday that I truly understand the challenges that come with overcoming trauma. It was through navigating my own healing journey that I was able to better coach those overcoming their challenges because I can recognize the resistance when It shows up in my clients and it is through this experience I am able to offer them a safe space to process and release as they recondition themselves to trust that they are safe to do so, supporting them every step of the way.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I believe teaching Yoga and Breathwork has helped me tremendously. Through my classes and workshops I allow space for individuals to go within and check in with themselves. I show them through holding yoga postures and through breathing techniques that they are safe to feel uncomfortable- bringing their awareness onto their mind and body connection showing them what it feels like to overcome discomfort and find ease.
