We recently connected with Christina McDaniel and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of our favorite things to brainstorm about with friends who’ve built something entrepreneurial is what they would do differently if they were to start over today. Surely, there are things you’ve learned that would allow you to do it over faster, more efficiently. We’d love to hear how you would go about setting things up if you were starting over today, knowing everything that you already know.
Social media plays a big part in any Creative’s work! It exposes our Art to the entire world! If I had to start all over again, I would have definetly started on the trendy social media platforms earlier like TikTok or Instagram.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
So glad you are reading this! I love everything Art related! I have been in the photography industry since 2016, I decided to learn everything about photography in 2016 when I registered for a photography certification course which I attended at night after my full time law enforcement job during the day. Photography has been a passion of my ever since I can remember. After trying different genres of photography like weddings, families, sports etc. I fell in love with Boudoir photography. I discovered how powerful these sessions are and how I can help other women feel their best and be able to show them how beautiful they really are by providing them with an excellent and rewarding experience. I own my own studio now, which is gorgeous by the way and I offer a full luxurious service including hair and makeup to glam my clients before their amazing experience.
Women work hard, we are moms, we are wives and we often forget about ourselves. We forget to love us, to cherish us and we forget how beautiful we really are. My goal is for women to see their best self in these images and to cherish them for a lifetime reminding them all of the obstacles they have overcome. I want their images to be a reminder of how strong and beautiful they really are.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
Absolutely! The amount of work and time that goes into a Boudoir session is not often understood. The list of things you have to align and prepare before one of these sessions is enormous. For example the duration of a session, posing and directing your client during the session, moving props or lighting and not to mention the amount of hours that go into post production. It takes all of these things to obtain beautiful and high end results. Sometimes it is hard for non-creatives to see the value in our work and see how hard we work to create this type of Art.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes!! I want to be able to help as many women as possible to see their beauty no only body wise but mentally. My goal is to soon offer these session at no cost to women who have been in an abusive household/relationship and are in shelters now. I want them to feel valuable and know there’s hope and people that believe in them and respect them for who they are.
