We were lucky to catch up with Christina Lowe recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I was a ballet dancer from a young age and was a part of a few productions in the downtown theater of Omaha, Nebraska, The Rose theater. I loved dance and when I was part of “The Nutcracker” and The Beauty and the Beast” there was a euphoric feeling I got from being onstage. Then, the summer after I had been in those productions, I did a ballet and theater camp. I had never acted before, and when I took acting classes I fell in love with the craft. I also would sing for my family and friends when I was younger, but I was too shy to in front of crowds. Acting and being part of musical theater helped me get over that, and then I started singing solo. When I was young, performing was more of a hobby and everyone told me it was “an unrealistic pipe dream” so I put it on the backburner as an option for a career. Then, once I moved to Atlanta after college, I decided I really wanted to pursue performing again, and half of the reason was when I got involved in the film industry in Atlanta by doing background acting. I had always been a theater actress and dreamt of being in movies and on T.V, shows but getting a taste of being on set really instilled in me that I wanted to be a film actress, and hopefully star in a movie musical someday.

Christina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an actress and musician originally from Omaha, Nebraska. I started performing when I was young, first with dance, then later came acting and singing. I tried a lot of things when I was young, from sports, to morning broadcasting at school, and performing, but performing stuck with me the most. I started with dance and theater and then continued with musical theater through out high school and college, and even earned a music business degree with a minor in music with the focus in vocal performance. I feel like what sets me apart is my versatility. I have worked in film as well as theater and as far as singing, I have learned songs in different languages, sang musical theater and written and performed my own pop songs. I never want to be put in a box because I appreciate so much of what music and acting have to offer. I feel like what I am most proud of are my own productions – my songs that I have written and sung from scratch, and the music videos I have conceptualized to accompany them. I always had a vision for the type of artist I wanted to be, the songs I wanted to sing about, and the sound and to see it come to fruition is amazing.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I won’t saw I have a ton of followers on my platforms, but I have gone pretty viral on some posts on my Youtube, Tik Tok, and Instagram. I would say my most successful posts are when I am being authentic and relatable. People love to watch something they can relate to, and people love to be entertained! Some of my funny posts have done the best because who doesn’t love to laugh? Some of my advice is to find whatever it is that you are good at and have a passion for, and build upon that: whether it is cooking, singing, dancing, discussing celebrity gossip, etc. Other than that, I would say you constantly have to study social media, and that includes keeping up with the trends, knowing what works for your specific audience, and posting consistently.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I definitely wish I would have known about sponsors! I had some help from some sponsors later and most recently in my creative journey, but I was struggling having to pay for everything myself and try to advertise my music, etc. early on. It makes a world of difference!
