We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christina Lovelace a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christina , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – walk us through the story?
I became a registered nurse at 19, tending to numerous patients, managing hospitals, and pursuing a medical business education. Despite following the conventional path for a long medical career, my true passion was not in medicine but in people and patients. In 2020, I made a drastic career shift to become a wedding planner, a role I had been informally practicing on a referral basis for years because I found it enjoyable and fulfilling. The realities of Covid and a personal battle with cancer made me realize the fleeting nature of life. I took a leap of faith amid the pandemic and my health struggles to start my wedding planning venture. It was a challenging decision, but one I cherish. This new path feels like my true calling. Similar to my nursing days, I continue to serve people, but now I guide them into a new chapter filled with hope and possibilities, which, to me, embodies the essence of life!

In 2013, a close friend requested my assistance in organizing a bridal shower for her daughter, leading to her wedding and subsequent events. The little town I lived in Texas, had never experienced a gathering like the ones I orchestrated, and I loved every moment of it!
Since then, I have specialized in tailored wedding experiences. Drawing inspiration from my time in New Jersey, Texas, and Massachusetts, my design and planning skills reflect a unique blend of a laid-back yet knowledgeable approach mixed with an always down-for-anything attitude.
My goal is to create unforgettable moments for my clients, ensuring they feel heard and supported. I am dedicated to providing top-notch service, ensuring each wedding I coordinate is as unique as the individuals it celebrates. My approach involves a holistic perspective on planning and design, taking into account the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual elements of the wedding and the couple.
Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a grand affair, I focus on crafting a wedding that reflects the couple’s journey into a new chapter together. From the initial consultation to the final touches, I am there at every stage, orchestrating a seamless and immersive experience that fosters lasting memories for both the couple and their guests.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Throughout my childhood, I was frequently asked, “What do you want to be?” This question led me to believe I could only pursue one path. I had to break free from that mindset. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns. You can embody various roles, and it’s never too late to explore different paths. As long as you’re alive and alert, there are endless possibilities. Embrace the opportunity. Feeling afraid is natural. However, don’t let fear prevent you from unleashing your full potential or realizing your dreams. To me, the thought of leaving this world with untapped potential or unfulfilled aspirations is more frightening than taking a chance and failing.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In any business, reputation is crucial and requires consistent nurturing. My journey began by working for other planners, a role I continue to embrace today. Social proof is invaluable, and what better validation than receiving praise from fellow wedding planners. This not only fosters trust but also demonstrates your expertise. When collaborating with other planners, I approach each task as if it were my own event, ensuring their company shines. Every responsibility is handled with precision and care, supporting them just as I do my clients. This approach has proven to be a successful business strategy, fostering strong relationships that have evolved into friendships. These remarkable planners not only refer clients but also provide invaluable assistance when needed, creating a mutually beneficial network.
