Christina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has Covid resulted in any major changes to your business model?
When I used to dream of opening my salon I dreamt of a large space where I could create suites for privacy. Through Covid I believed this would be the best environment for our guests. We had to make several design changes to our floor plan during our renovation phase and decided to optimize our space with an open studio. This was the best decision for our space, because I found that Covid has produced many remote positions, & most people’s social interaction is limited to their homes. Coming to the salon is something our guests look forward to because they can interact with other clients while enjoying their services. I would say that Covid has made clients enjoy our space in a way they never knew they needed.

Christina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Bella Donna & Co was created in the fall of 2021 after being just Bella Donna for about a decade and a half. Our spa owner was a beauty school student locally at Judson high school & has been polishing her craft since! With over 20 years experience we decided to transfer our knowledge of the industry into an education system for our staff. The goal is to produce well trained professionals that create consistent results for the public.
Our expansion came during the pandemic where we decided to become a full service spa. We offer much more than just hair services. We have permanent cosmetics, nail services, massage, facials, body waxing, lash extensions & more!
Bella Donna & Co is a Redken salon where we have committed to using that line of product. We also use DMK as our exclusive facial line. We know that our results can only be as amazing as the products we use so we have carefully selected the best quality product to keep on our shelves.
We strive to make our guests feel welcomed and comfortable in our chairs with a relaxed laid back environment. We have been told that we make everyone feel like they belong when they walk into our spa, & that is the ultimate goal. Salon culture is a close 2nd to the client experience. Our vision for our culture is to have a staff that embodies our core values. We will provide a safe and sanitary environment for our staff and guests, we will act professionally to ensure client confidence, we will engage with you to provide a great experience and thorough consultation, & most importantly we provide quality products & results.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Our most effective for growing our clientele is community involvement! It is not only an investment to your community but also to yourself.. we volunteer our time alongside our team with many local organizations. This provides us with a positive interactive environment where we can build relationships with others within our communities. This is a great way to give back, but also put our name out there for those seeking services we provide. You will never suffer from helping others in a volunteer capacity.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What I think helped build our reputation amongst our market is always being receptive to feedback and prioritizing the customer experience. Our clients know that they will receive quality services while in our building, & their time with us will be met with attentiveness, creativity, and a safe a sanitary environment.
