We recently connected with Christina LaSalvia and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Too often the media represents innovation as something magical that only high-flying tech billionaires and upstarts engage in – but the truth is almost every business owner has to regularly innovate in small and big ways in order for their businesses to survive and thrive. Can you share a story that highlights something innovative you’ve done over the course of your career?
I have had many different roles and job titles throughout my life time and what I didn’t realize was that each position I held lead me to where I am today. I started off as a Vet Tech but because I was 17 and needed to financially care for myself, I gave up what I loved doing and started at the ground level in corporate America. After 20 years in corporate America, I reached my pinnacle as a Human Resources Representative and became completely burnt out. After completing my last contract and building my last HR Department for a family member, I took time off and started walking dogs for Wag and Rover. Because everyone could tell that I loved doing what I was doing, my clientele grew faster than I could keep up with so i took the plunge and began building my own team. Now, we have clients throughout Collin County and have 3 luxury buildings that we over see. This has truly been my blind walk of faith and every skill ill acquired during my corporate tenure helps me manage our daily processes. I will be forever grateful for the crooked path I took to get here!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
We have become the go to one stop shop for busy people’s pet care needs. We conduct sleepovers, playcare, transportation, grooming and its not just for dogs!!! Half of our clients fall into the other category and we love going into people’s homes to care for their pets. This includes cat care, bird care, fish and reptiles. If its a legal to own pet, we will help! Even the busiest of people deserve the love of a pet!
Have you ever had to pivot?
See response from the 1st question.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Resilience is the name of the game!!! Business ownership is NOT easy at all!! I have had to remain dedicated and positive even when I dont want to. I have to be the source of stability and positiveness for my entire team – even on those days when im ready to close up shop. The pet care aspect of my business is the easy part… leading humans is the challenge!
