We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christina Khiev. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christina below.
Christina, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I learned to be the nail artist I am by continuing to perfect my craft and not being afraid to try something new.
Knowing what I know now, I could have speed up my learning process by not being afraid to suggest ideas to my clients. I also could have just practiced on myself if I wanted to try out any designs or techniques.
The skills that I think were most essential are being consistent and clean, and also never giving up even when I made mistakes.
The obstacles that stood in my way of learning more was always feeling like I was being rushed to finish. And always feeling stagnant and being told I wasn’t experienced enough to do certain things.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Since my previous article, a few things have changed with my brand. But if you didn’t get a chance to read that article, I go by Teennaa. I am a nail technician/artist that has branded myself as Nailed by Teennaa. I’ve been in the industry for about 4.5 years and I am still learning new techniques/things everyday. As a nail artist, I provide manicure services like gel manicures, dipping powder, and I have even started offering acrylic full sets. I also provide pedicure services as well. Not only do I provide nail service for my clients, I also provide a safe space for them to speak freely and be able to express themselves or wind down from a long day at work. I am most proud of how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time. I am proud of how much I’ve improved since I first started doing nails. I want potential clients to know that I will always listen to what they want and need from their nail tech. And I will always put my best foot forward because once you’re serviced by me, you are a part of my growing team.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Truly becoming my own boss is what is driving my creative journey. Though I am in a good place, I can always strive for better and I will strive for better. Like I always say, this is just the beginning and bigger things are to come for Nailed by Teennaa!
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my client has been to be consistent with my work. Also, I’ve learned that simply holding a conversation with someone can turn them into a potential client.
