We were lucky to catch up with Christina Holloway recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christina thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
I have provided free services to a few customers because customer service matters when it comes to choosing your brand or facility again. When a customer is unhappy with the polish they choose or my hours don’t work with their hours lastly when they need services but cannot afford it. I do it “why not” and it doesn’t matter if they return or not because the customer service I’ve shown them is what matters. Customers come to my place of business looking for services whether it’s right now or later but it’s because they want their hands & feet to look good plus healthy which what we provide. Overall, I provide great customer care lets take service out I care for them.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I put this dream of being in this industry into the universe when I was 12 years old. I saw myself polishing my toes but adding more to them such as designs. I applauded and watched my local beauticians and nail professionals on television and when I would go get the services. I decided in 2012 that I had a chance and it was my time to step out on faith. I went to school part time worked and had a 7 year old to raise but with prayers God provided what & who I needed during this time. I graduated from nail technician classes, went to state board passed 10 years ago & today I own Simply You Salon 7 years later and continuing to provide great customer service and care to my clients. Simply You was started to give clients the comfortable feeling always being you naturally whether it’s your natural nails or natural skin we want you to always love that you. We provide services to enhance the natural nails with colors ( adding a pop of designs or airbrush) , educating the client on how to take care of the natural skin and nails along with foot care. We give one on one service to ensure privacy for clients who choose to be private plus keeps social distance at a minimum. We have no lines or lists , evening appointments and flexible schedule. We retail skin products, supplies and socks because it goes with the naturally you that is simply you. I say we but it’s me however, I think big and we means big. I am proud of where I have come from and where I’m going. My biggest accomplishment has been keeping my doors open amid a pandemic. Overall I want all clients now and future to remember Simply You is where customer service is customer care, it’s where we bond like friends and we help others in need especially in our community. Simply You is just that simply me and you my friends.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Social media and Groupon helped build Simply You reputation because of accountability I could use these sources to build furthermore use as I continue to build
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I had a pivot in my life these past month when my son went off to college it has changed our lives. It’s for good, thankful. It has caused me to lose focus on my business and even my life but today I claimed me back. This is a good change for my son and I. When change comes it’s ok to go into a place of nowhere but I can’t stay there I got up and started saying to myself “I CAN DO THIS NO MATTER WHAT”. Just as I started this business with my faith I’m keeping that same faith in pivoting my business mind and energy plus my career goal for life and so much more.
