We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christina Gandara Crown of Beauty LLC . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christina below.
Hi Christina , thanks for joining us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Yes I’ve been able to earn a full time living from creating beautiful hair for my wonderful clients. It definitely starts with Trust and building a relationship with clients. Also listening to their hair care needs and desires. Clients want someone easy to talk to and someone to understand them. They want to feel pampered and to feel beautiful. I’ve taken lots of educational classes that has helped me grow into the artist I want to be . Learning techniques and keeping an open mind about learning new trends and ideas has kept me up to par. It’s takes time to build a clientele. You just have yo be patient in the growing stage . Don’t give up , just strive to be the best stylist you can be . It’s worth the wait . I started out as a commission stylist and I am proud to announce that I am now a booth renter running my own business now .
Christina , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hello Gorgeous people I got into the hair industry when my youngest daughter was in preschool. I took a chance in going to school as an older mother of 4 girls. One of my good friends pushed me to go . I was uncertain if I really wanted to go as an older student. I was nervous. But I am so grateful to my friend for pushing me to go. I started out as a commission stylist but now I am a booth Renter at a Newly opened salon Called Revilo A LIZ BEAN SALON . I used the color brand Keune to create beautiful color for my clients . I specialize in color corrections, blonding , dimensional colors and textured curly hair . I also enjoy cutting mens hair and giving a good fade .
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes my goal is to one day own my own salon. I have some talent beauty professionals in my family who also one day want to go in on a salon . My daughter just graduated from Esthetics school and is in the early stages of building a clientele and my sister in law does nails and graduated a couple years ago . Our Goal is to open a salon and go into business together.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
Having your clients tell others about you and to have others love what I’ve created on my clients . They are walking billboards for my business. I also love to give back to the community and offer my services to those in need. I’ve done back to school events and would love to work with women looking for jobs or needing make overs
