We were lucky to catch up with Christina Cromer recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Christina, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My company, JSPR BLVK Entertainment LLC’s mission is to produce high-quality art for all demographics. We offer a theme of unity, and representation through each piece. Our art brings people together, engage, enlighten, and inspire our artists without limiting our creativity. The mission of my company is incredibly important to me because I grew up around many people who had brilliant ideas but lacked the resources to bring them to fruition. It’s fascinating to see how passionately people express their ideas. They become so enthralled with them and increasingly emphasize how great the ideas are, believing that if they pursue them, their lives will change or it will be a “game changer”. However, it often turns out that they are either unaware of the first steps to take or lack the follow through to accomplish their goals. So I help them by providing the first steps, whether that be creating a logo or consulting for guidance and I noticed it helps them kickstart their ideas and propels them forward.
Christina, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Christina Cromer and I am the owner of JSPR BLVK Entertainment LLC (pronounced Jasper Black). I have been an artist all of my life, I started drawing cartoons I had seen on TV at five years old. I started to take art more seriously after noticing I had better doodles on homework in high school than the answers themself. I went to California State University, Northridge for my Bachelors in Business Management and Minor in Art. During college, I had the luxury of working with Disney TV employees to animate a Pilot episode to pitch to their bosses. I loved the process so much that I decided to create my own business and focus my art emphasis on animation. My company provides various different services. Some of our Illustration Services are Album Cover, Fan Art, Portraits, Our Graphic Design services are Flyer, Logo, and Poster Design. Full production Services are Comic Book, 2D Animation, and 3D Animation.
I am most proud of the Comic Book Production and Animation work that we were able to provide to other small businesses during COVID. There were tons of people I came across who needed help with certain artistic ways and I am happy that we were able to help them.
I want potential clients to know that we are happy to create anything that will help them achieve their goals. There is never a project too big or too small for us to work on. We are artists at our core and if there isn’t something that we do not offer, it’s that we haven’t done it yet.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Throughout my experiences in life, I made sure that I connected with all different kinds of people and built up great relationships. My dad always told me that doing business involves a series of relationship management. How well you manage your relationships will show you how far you go. I think what helped me the most is how professional I was with my clients while creating a great experience with them working with me. I made it fun but still professional. I streamlined the process to document everything and helped them to always understand what is going on, while still being comfortable with providing input. This made them refer my business to other people that they know. A lot of my clientele I find is through word of mouth.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The lesson I had to unlearn when starting my business is that everyone who is founding the business has authority. When I started my LLC, I partnered with a few friends to create the business. For the organizational structure, we made everyone have equal roles as owners and soon found out that it was a mistake. We all started butting heads and had our individual ideas of how the business should be ran. From this experience, I discovered that it’s a lot better if everyone has high positions of power but there is only one authority. After we changed the structure to one authority then we were able to finish more work and everything ran smoothly.
