We recently connected with Christina Chislom-Banner and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
One day a fellow stylist friend of mine asked me this question. What would you do for free? You would do even if you didn’t get paid? I said I would minister to people! that was at least 20 years ago. I believe every job i have worked or every profession i tap into , in someway tap the field of service to people, the community and the church at large. From doing hair and makeup to now counseling high school students, i believe my purpose is to cultivate beauty from the inside out. What ever that looks like for the individual. I want the to leave an encounter with me Better Than Before!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Better Than Before LLC. All started from me hosting my very first woman’s conference in Columbus Ohio. It was created for women to come in as they were broken , hurting ,in need of change. And now going on my 4th year in conference i finally realized its not just a conference, the ministry of people is what I’m called too. I did hair professionally for about 20 years and during that time it was never just hair but ministry, Make up as well. As i began to study in Bible College i began to want to tap into my spiritual legacy as well. I thought it was very important to begin to write, and now i have published a children’s book, a prayer and deliverance book, a journal and i assisted my husband in writing his first men’s journal! Change doesn’t happen over night, and I want to be effective by speaking life into you and then be able to send you home with a way to complete the homework until you become the best version of you. Everything i do in the service industry , the root of it is my love for God. This whole brand building society is different for me, you have to be so current on whos’ who and what’s what, and what they doin, meanwhile, my go too, is striving to know God more, make him proud, and see people possess their land in every area. I could only hope that my mission is felt by every one i come in contact with, and I remain true to my brand, helping you become Better Than Before.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I’m no social media guru , however i took a chance one night at going LIVE for prayer and here i am two years later with followers and faithful watchers of my prayer Live! Just begin, Be consistent, Be fearless!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
During Covid i was trying to keep busy so i began to write and when the book was finished i still wanted my gifts and brain to stay active , so i created a podcast. I may be restricted from physical contact but i can still visit you with my voice and encouragement! Its all about how creative can you get.
