We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christina Ball. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christina below.
Christina, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I can’t help but feel excited about how my career journey could have started sooner! I truly believe it would have brought me so much more fulfillment. As a young dreamer, I always wanted to be an artist, but I got caught up in the belief that artists don’t make a living, which held me back. Despite my passion for the arts, I explored a variety of other careers, but my heart was never in it!
One of my fondest childhood memories is finding my mom’s old drawings—her incredible talent completely captivated me. I wanted to be just like her! However, she felt that pursuing a career in art wasn’t practical, having to support our family. Still, the arts have always been my refuge, my way of expressing everything when I felt lost.
After I graduated with my BA in Psychology, life threw me a curveball: I went through a heartbreaking breakup, lost a family member on Thanksgiving, and faced some tricky family dynamics. But then, a good friend introduced me to some amazing ideas that opened my eyes to new possibilities. Suddenly, everything felt achievable!
That’s when I decided to take the leap and follow my heart to art! It felt like the perfect path to my true self. I often think about how exhilarating it would have been if I hadn’t let doubt hold me back. If I had pursued my dream and attended the Art Institute, I can only imagine the creativity and inspiration that would have filled my life! The networking possibilities make me wonder if achieving this dream would have been easier if I had started sooner.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Throughout my life, I have woven together my experiences in the realms of art and psychology, creating a tapestry that reflects both beautiful creativity and profound personal growth. From an early age, I encountered formidable challenges that shaped my path and ultimately led me to pursue a career as a therapist. This journey was not merely a professional choice but a quest to understand the intricate psychology of my own inner world.
Art has always been my refuge, a means of expression that allows me to explore and uncover the layers of my psyche. Each brushstroke and every color I chose echoed my desire to break free from the constraints of conventional thought and societal expectations. As I delved deeper into my passions, I realized that true artistry transcends rigid ideologies; it dares to defy the limits of what is known and embraced the beauty of the unknown. In this realization, I found my calling—not only as an artist but as someone who embodies the spirit of liberation itself.
I’m thrilled to announce that this summer, in 2025, I will be hosting immersive workshops and personalized one-on-one coaching sessions! These unique experiences are designed to help you dive into the transformative world of art and therapy within a nurturing and supportive environment.
I firmly believe that healing takes many forms and extends far beyond conventional clinical methods. My mission is to shine a light on the incredible pathways of creative expression, promote healing, and infuse your life with love and inspiration. Together, we’ll embark on a powerful journey of self-discovery, where creativity becomes a catalyst for growth and a wellspring of inspiration.

Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I’ve spoken to many people about NFTs, and a common sentiment is that they can be problematic and sometimes lead to scams. I experienced this firsthand when I first ventured into the NFT space; I encountered several scammers initially. However, this journey taught me the importance of doing thorough research and being cautious. While there are interesting opportunities within the NFT world, I’ve come to realize that my time might be better spent on more rewarding pursuits. It’s valuable to heed the experiences of others, and I appreciate the lessons learned along the way!

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
Artistic expression is essential for a vibrant society, yet many artists struggle to find the support they need. During my time in Miami, I encountered spaces like Fountainhead and Bakehouse Studios, which served as rich ecosystems for creativity. Similarly, in Denver, Redline Gallery exemplifies this concept beautifully.
I believe that providing collaborative studio spaces for artists, along with scholarship opportunities, promotes inclusivity and nurtures talent. When residency programs include numerous studios and remain open to the public, they facilitate meaningful interactions between artists and their audience.
Art has the power to heal, inspire, and transform; it is fundamentally necessary for our community. Although social media currently reigns as the leading platform for exposure, experiencing art in person within its creative space allows for a deeper connection. This, in turn, enhances the desire to acquire these unique pieces.
