Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christina Archuleta. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christina , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
The process for me to go from idea to execution was actually by necessity.
I had to leave a very difficult relationship and move to another state.
I had lived in my home state of Colorado and had a business with my then husband and had kept in contact with my former clients. They were excited that I had returned to my home state and became my own personal clients.
Since I didn’t have a building to train clients out of, I decided that I should do house calls that was I could work off my client’s schedule. So I purchased enough equipment to be able to train them to the best of my ability.
This turned out to be a very good decision because since then, I’m getting referrals and new clients monthly
Christina , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m the youngest of 11 children in my home. We all did our share of chores and outdoor jobs that gave me a real good sense of what tenacity can get you in your a determined individual.
I got married at a very young age, too a person who turned out to be an alcoholic and an abuser. Although I was raised to work things out, I couldn’t tolerate the daily beatings and insecurity about my future so I made the decision to leave. Instead of breaking me like I thought it would, it made me stronger. I was involved in martial arts just before I left my marriage so I continued, receiving my first, then second degree basic belts, certified in weapons training and then moving on to Krav Maga.
I believe what sets me apart is that I’ve experienced violence, and have survived and even flourished.
I am unique because of my skills and the fact that I come to you to customize training plans for each individual. I also work with my client’s schedule so it’s very convenient for them
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I was training to be a certified coach for Rocky Mountain Combat Applications and Tactics, this is a group out of Colorado. During the training, I was put into a situation that simulated a violent encounter that I had experienced previously. I began to shut down and then realized that I was not the timid, weak person I had been before training. I was able to complete the training and was victorious.
This has helped me in so many more experiences and has helped me walk taller and more confident now
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
My side hustle of just prepping clients for testing, or just helping them with techniques, along with my certifications in personal training, nutrition, and martial arts, helped me realize that I had a unique gift with people who had been in situations that traumatized them. They responded to my training and gained confidence as well as skills that were valuable to them.
