We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Christina Alessi a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Christina, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
Many years before I founded Sfera Agency, I worked in the luxury hospitality space. What I loved about 5-star hotels was their attention to detail and white glove service from arrival to departure. We created experiences for guests to last a lifetime. Fast forward to working in leadership training and development, I was determined to bring white glove service to the corporate world. From an initial discovery call with a potential client, to months after their event, I’m committed to bringing this 5-star luxury feel to the entire process. We partner with our clients to ensure they have the perfect speaker for their event.
Christina, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We match corporate clients with the “perfect fit” speaker/trainer so they don’t have to watch endless hours of TED talks. Sfera Agency LLC is a leadership development (speakers) agency that diagnoses company culture in order to help organizations scale by utilizing our trusted network of world-class speakers. We do this through keynotes, workshops, coaching, and training and development programs.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
During Covid, all live events were pretty much put on an indefinite halt. We had tons of cancellations, people asking to postpone their event dates, and/or demand refunds. This was devastating to my industry. All of my speakers were used to doing 98% of their events live. Rather than losing the majority of our business, I was optimistic to pivot our live events to virtual events, as I knew that people needed to gather even though we were unable to gather physically. This was a huge turning point for us during 2020, as now we were able to take on more than one event in one day, where previously more than one event in a day was near impossible. We took a negative event, and turned it into a positive outcome. Now, we are able to reach far more people across the globe for a much lower price than ever before.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The level of service we provide to both our speakers and our customers. We have a boutique agency, which means we only take on so many speakers. We know everyone in our network extremely well. We know who their ideal audience is and we make sure to only make perfect matches.
We always strive to go above and beyond for our customers. We lead with a servant’s heart. It’s our job to understand their needs. We work for them. We build trust first, and nurture relationships before ever selling anything. If a doctor wrote a prescription without knowing their patients symptoms and prior history, it would be considered malpractice. We feel the same about our market. We consider ourselves the “concierge” of the leadership development industry.
