Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christin Peeples. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christin, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have any thoughts about how to create a more inclusive workplace?
There are several ways to create a more inclusive workplace. Here is a highly effective plan I share with clients to aid in growing a genuine sense of community and belonging, while promoting employee well-being and business growth.
1. Develop an inclusive culture: Start by creating a culture that values diversity and inclusivity at all levels of the organization. This can be achieved by providing training and education to staff and board members on topics such as unconscious bias, cultural competency, and inclusive leadership.
2. Review your policies and procedures: Review your organization’s policies and procedures to ensure they are inclusive and do not create barriers for underrepresented groups. For example, consider offering flexible work arrangements or accommodations for employees with disabilities.
3. Diversify your staff and leadership: Actively work to diversify your staff and leadership by recruiting and retaining employees and board members from underrepresented groups. Consider partnering with organizations that serve diverse communities to help with your recruitment efforts.
4. Foster a sense of belonging: Ensure that all employees feel valued and included in the workplace by creating opportunities for employee engagement and feedback. This can include regular check-ins, employee resource groups, a suggestion box, and diversity and inclusion surveys.
5. Provide ongoing training and education: Continue to provide ongoing training and education to staff and board members on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This can help ensure that your organization remains committed to creating a more inclusive workplace over the long term.
By implementing these strategies, your organization can create a more inclusive workplace that supports the success of all employees and promotes a culture of belonging.
I personally found myself in a very toxic work environment that didn’t value diversity, equity, and inclusion which became a breeding ground for workplace bullying abuse and mobbing. After my healing journey, I made it my mission to create a safe space for targets who have experienced the same trauma and ensure that no-one else feels alone in living miserably through the mistreatment, fear, exclusion and isolation that I did during their workday. So, I felt it necessary to not only empower the employee through my website, books, coaching, resources, YouTube Channel & TikTok Videos. But also ensure that the employer is educated in understanding the symptoms of this epidemic through my consulting services while ensuring there are laws in place that will hold the many companies that don’t support an inclusive work environment accountable.
Christin, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
For those who may not be familiar with me or my work…Hi! I’m Christin Peeples, Founder & President of Bossupculture.org. My organization is a 501c3 that raises funding for targets of workplace bullying abuse and mobbing who are limited in their ability to access mental healthcare and/or substance abuse support. Workplace abuse and mobbing was a part of my lived experience for almost a decade of my career. It was a painful, and at times terrifying experience that greatly impacted my mental and physical health, and I wouldn’t wish that chapter of my life on anyone. I have always been a believer in being the change I wish to see. So, after much needed treatment and the support of my family and friends, I decided to make helping others apart of my healing process. I must say, I never knew how much helping others would help me and how such a horrible experience would open up so many opportunities for me to make such a positive impact in the world.
I’m most proud to know that I had the strength to turn my trauma into triumph and that my scars from that experience have provided wisdom and guidance to my clients and those who follow my work. It feels so good to hear the success stories from past clients to people who have watched my videos and felt a sense of belonging within the Boss Up Culture Org community. Hearing them share how they feel inspired and supported and were able to overcome their individual obstacles in the workplace motivates and inspires me to become more creative in expanding my reach and services so that inclusive, healthy, and positive workplaces become more of the norm than not.
Bossupculture.org invites you to also become a part of our community, whether you are a target who has experienced workplace bullying abuse and mobbing; or a professional such as an Employment Attorney, Therapist/Psychiatrist/Psychologist, Healer/Reiki Master or Staffing Company/Employer/Business Owner who supports our mission and core values.
Through our website, we offer Coaching & Consulting Services, Videos, Resources, Our Exclusive Workbooks, Athleisure Wear, Healing Bracelets & More! We invite you to Join the Movement to ensure this epidemic becomes illegal. You can also find your State Representative via our website so that they too can support our initiative in making the workplace a better place for all.
Bossupculture.org greatly appreciates your tax-deductible donations to ensure that mental healthcare and substance abuse support is accessible to targeted employees who don’t have mental healthcare coverage or have yet to meet their deductibles. Your much needed support gets us closer to the goal of ensuring healing while re-creating work environments that understand how making diversity, equity, and inclusion the heartbeat of their culture can yield success beyond measure in business and in the lives of their employees.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn “limited and powerless thinking”. And remember that my infinite power within was always there and ready to assist me in overcoming any obstacle that comes my way. Knowing this, I now see why I was a target and why it took so many people to join the mob in trying to bully me. They saw my light, my power and my strength all along, and once I unlearned the limited beliefs that once plagued me, I was able to take my power back and build this powerful organization with such powerful connections and outreach. This whole workplace bullying abuse experience has taught me that there is nothing I can’t accomplish. And it has been my pleasure to share the wisdom of that power within to all who watch my videos, attend my talks, or sign up for my coaching services.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my audience in my relentless pursuit of healing and to help others heal. Sharing my experiences not only supported others who watched my videos, but also helped me release painful memories. My videos are like a diary in video form, with the intention that my entries reached those who could relate and be reassured that they weren’t alone in their experience. Since the subject of workplace bullying was something that many secretly suffered through, there weren’t many forums or communities that offered such an open discussion about this epidemic. So, I witnessed explosive growth and support within the last couple of years. Particularly since toxic work environments have become the norm and many employees are looking for an escape to preserve their wellbeing. Providing a place where targeted employees felt safe in sharing their experiences via comments, emails and in my 1:1 Coaching Sessions proved that our community was needed and the content I had to offer was an untapped resource.
My advice to anyone just starting to build a social media presence is to focus on topics that you are passionate about and have a lived experience that makes you a subject matter expert. Unscripted content in my opinion is best. Be authentic, people can feel your essence and are drawn to those they can relate to. Be a resource so that people find value in what you share and look forward to what you publish next. And last, but not least, have fun with it, be yourself and your tribe will come.
