We recently connected with Christie Niq Williams and have shared our conversation below.
Christie Niq, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us about an important lesson you learned while working at a prior job?
The most important lessons learned while working in corporate, as a Strategic Account Manager, were time management and self-discipline. Flexibility is one of several benefits to being self-employed, however, this benefit can easily kill your business if you don’t properly manage your time and prioritize needs over wants. When I left corporate, I already worked from home unless I was meeting with clients and I managed clients, who were Fortune 500 companies, all over the country. This experience allowed me to easily transition into building Niq Williams Events. From prioritizing meetings and clients as needed, to being able to manage multiple brides and special event clients all over the world, the experience gained in my former job has been invaluable to the stability of NWE.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Niq Williams Event Management LLC is an award-winning, published, full-service event planning and floral design team; skilled and experienced in creating unforgettable events. Our team consists of twenty staff members who plan, coordinate, and design special events. Niq Williams Events specializes in weddings, but are excited to design memorable events of all kinds. We’ve planned and designed over 250 weddings, dozens of parties, baby showers, corporate lunch and learns and more. Whether your event is local or across the globe, Niq Williams Events will handle “the planning and the pretty”! We love fresh flowers, candlescapes, and unexpected details that display our client’s personality. Our planning style involves planning in stages and often times end in those magical words that our client’s love to hear; “I’ll take care of it”. On the day of your event, your only focus should be preparing yourself for the time of your life. NWE provides on-site staff to manage every detail of your event, allowing you to be a stress-free host.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
After twelve years in business, Niq Williams Events has built a solid reputation for educating our clients on proper etiquette, while still allowing them to have an event that holds true to who they are. We offer flexibility as needed, business hours until 8 pm, and creativity that can run wild, if the client allows. Most of all, our team is very personable, not only with our clients, but with other industry professionals as well. At NWE, we keep it light, but everyone knows, we also keep it tight.

Any advice for managing a team?
At Niq Williams Events, we work diligently to provide professional, yet personable customer service to our clients, vendor partners and teammates. As we continue to build our team, we are very proud that the average team member has worked with NWE for 6 years. We currently have three full-time employees and 17 part-time. All of our full-time team members were promoted from within. We love to allow our teammates to “show off” their talents!
Niq Williams Events is proud to offer employment to mothers that can work in a fun environment while creating beautiful events, with a flexible work schedule and the ability to own their very own businesses. Because our team is allowed to choose the events they’d like to work, this allows for a beautiful work-life balance.
Our team feels like a family with an open communication policy. We work hard but we laugh even harder, together! In 2021, we hosted a team Ball & BBQ Kickball function and appreciation event, as well as a Christmas Party with all of the bells and whistles. We work hard to make each team member feel valued.
