We recently connected with Christiano Green and have shared our conversation below.
Christiano, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk about innovation. What’s the most innovative thing you’ve done in your career?
Innovation is at the forefront of what we do at Queer Quest. Being a coach helping people in the queer community to transform their lives can be a tough road when focused solely on your own growth and supporting others through theirs. There is no path forward outside of the traditional social media marketing for queer entrepreneurs. This was a struggle for me and a major struggle I saw many other coaches who help LGBTQIA+ clients. This is why we created Queer Quest so there is a place that we can work together to help more people. Queer Quest is the world’s first online personal development platform where expert coaches, healers, teachers, and gurus from around the world can host their expert niche programs so that clients can come and learn from many different voices instead of the traditional one voice. You can learn and grow in all 12 areas of the queer wellness wheel of life so you can go on a deep journey that can be as curated or customised as you need it to be. This level of innovation has helped us try to not only solve the problems for our own clients but one for the entire industry to be a part of. We are much better together as a community so why not leverage that.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Queer Quest is the world’s first online personal development platform specifically for the queer community. It is a place where expert coaches, healers, teachers, and gurus can host their programs and share their niche expertise and one where members of the LGBTQIA+ community can come and learn from expert queer voices in all 12 of the categories in the queer wellness wheel of life. It is a service that can be as curated or customised as you need it to be and one you can be on for the rest of your life. There is always a place to grow and this is a place where you can be a part of a strong queer community that is supportive, friendly, and authentic which allows you to be the same. From this place we help our community heal, grow, and transform their lives and then the lives of others around them. We are strong on being able to support queer people all around the world and ones who really need it so we offer a scholarship program where every program is purchased we offer a scholarship to a queer person who is in need and who really wants we have to offer. This is a way that every single member gets to give back and support our community to be a better place.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Being a queer entrepreneur who runs a business online comes with a lot of scrutiny, discrimination, and rejection. There have been many times along this journey where I have wanted to quit, thought I’d made a mistake leaving my corporate career, or just been knocked down time after time. My passion and purpose in wanting to help other people in the queer community to thrive and transform their lives around is what has kept me going through those tough times. There was this one time where I had been a part of a well known personal development gurus program and in that group I faced a very public backlash from religious supremists. I thought being in the personal development space that it was a safe space to share about my journey and in fact I received hundreds of messages that left me and others like me feeling like it wasn’t that way. This led me to raise the issue to admins, decide it wasn’t the space for me, deal with the rejection, and then redirect myself in creating the safe space that I was not granted in an industry that really should have. Now I know this does not speak to everyone at all but this kind of situation almost made me quit what I was doing as I didn’t feel it was an industry I wanted to be a part of. I had to take a step back, look at it, and realise that if there is no paven path then you have to create it for others. That experience just made me more resilient and stronger and showed me what I needed to create for my community.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Pivoting is essential in life and business and it is a chance to reinvent yourself along the way. When working as a solo entreprenur trying to grow my coaching business, I realised it was unstable and harder to find LGBTQIA+ clients as a solo coach. I would get a whole group then it might be months without getting any. This kind of instability led me to pivot. I had spoken and gotten to know many other coaches in the LGBTQIA+ space and realised this was also an issue. I had seen many come and go as they either didn’t have the passion or the resilience to keep going. This is why I pivoted and created Queer Quest so that I could not only support the queer community but I could also help all these other LGBTQIA+ coaches who are out there trying to make a difference and grow their business. Thinking bigger and differently allowed me to pivot and solve multiple problems but also create something that has never been done before in my community.
