We recently connected with Christian Thorpe and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Christian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
I am yet to go full time with my creative work and have it serve as my means for living. As of now I teach tenth grade U.S. History as my primary source of income while I act on the side. With that being said, this year has been my most successful year of acting and I plan to continue until I can make acting my full time job.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I have always enjoyed watching movies and television and when I was younger I often thought that I would love to try acting someday. Most of my life I was an athlete, I played baseball in high school, college, and semi-professionally for two seasons in California. When I knew that my baseball career was coming to a close I thought that it would be the perfect time to try my hand at acting. One of my favorite actors and main motivations for getting into actor is the late Chadwick Boseman. He moved and inspired through many of his performances and I aim to do the same for others. Even though I am still fairly new to acting, I believe my attributes that set me apart from many others are my determination, my drive, and my optimistic attitude. I am most proud of the connections that I have made in this industry so far. I have connected with some extremely amazing people and I am excited for the projects that I have worked on with them and the future projects that I will be working on with them.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My main goal in my journey of being an actor is to inspire others. There have been countless times where I have gone to the movies and I left the cinema feeling joyful or heavily inspired. I wish to do for others what so many great actors have done for me since my childhood.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Going from being an athlete my entire life to being an actor was massive change in my life. I always understood sports since I was a child and this made playing sports quite easy, but becoming an actor and not knowing much about the industry was extremely challenging. My first couple times on set I was nervous, but I was able to catch on quickly and learn as I went. After I while I not only became comfortable, but I became confident in myself and my talent while on set.
