Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christian Pascua. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Christian, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
If I could go back in time, I honestly wouldn’t change the timing of when I started my creative career. I began making beats when I was about 22, shortly after graduating from UC Davis in 2021. At the time, I was fresh out of undergrad, trying to figure out what was next. A year later, I decided to return to school to pursue my master’s, balancing academic commitments with my growing passion for music production.
Some might say I started “late” in the music world—many producers begin in their teens—but for me, it was exactly the right moment. I brought a sense of focus, discipline, and maturity that helped me treat music not just as a hobby, but as a real pursuit. In just a few years, my beats had been streamed over 100 million times, and I was fortunate enough to be a part of a project that won a Grammy. Those milestones didn’t happen because I started early—they happened because I was ready to work, ready to learn, and ready to push myself.
Had I started earlier, I might have lacked the perspective and self-awareness I needed to sustain a career in such a competitive industry. I likely would have been more easily distracted, or caught up in chasing trends instead of finding my own voice. And if I had waited any longer, I might have let fear or practicality talk me out of even trying.
What starting “later” gave me was clarity. I had already experienced the structure of higher education and the expectations of a traditional path. That contrast helped me fully commit to a life in music because I knew what I was giving up—and why it was worth it.
Looking back, I wouldn’t trade the timing. My journey didn’t follow the stereotypical arc of a young prodigy, but it’s been just as impactful. Starting when I did allowed me to grow creatively while also staying grounded. It showed me that success doesn’t depend on how early you begin—it depends on how deeply you commit once you start. So no, I don’t wish I had started sooner or later. I’m glad I began exactly when I did.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m a beatmaker, artist, and sample maker with a unique approach that blends creativity and guidance. I started making beats at 22 and have since built a career that includes over 100 million streams and a Grammy win. What sets me apart is my ability to combine my music production skills with my background in counseling—I hold a master’s degree in the field. This allows me to offer more than just beats; I help artists find direction, build confidence, and navigate the emotional side of their creative journeys. I create custom beats, sample packs, and full production for artists looking to develop a distinct sound. I’m most proud of the impact my work has had, both in numbers and in how it’s helped clients grow personally and professionally. My goal is to make music that moves people and to be a partner in helping artists find their voice.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I built my social media presence by simply posting on tik tok, instagram, youtube, etc every single day.
Have you ever had to pivot?
For me, there was no pivot. I simply kept my head down and made beats every single day.
