We were lucky to catch up with Christian “Nelson” Odinma Odinma recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christian “Nelson” Odinma, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My mission I believe is to empower, encourage and inspire others around me. I recognize that my mission has become one of perseverance, and an undying passion to succeed in my endeavors. I am also very committed to inclusion, and seeing the bigger picture. I always strive to set an example to my network, that our victory is on the other side of our pride.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Well, first off I’d like to thank all the supporters that have followed my journey along the way. I appreciate all of you. I’ve always been someone that has been motivated to be great, in anything I put my mind to. I grew up a competitor, and that’s the mentality I’ve kept thus far. I go by Christian “Nelson” Odinma and I was born in Huntsville Alabama, but grew up in Grand Rapids Michigan. I’ve always been into the arts, and that carried throughout high school and undergrad. Go Bull Dogs and Go Sparty! I moved to Atlanta in 2009. Not only am I a singer/songwriter for myself and other creditable artist and musicians, but I’m also a brand ambassador and executive broker with RapStar Energy – a new Ultimate Performance Energy Drink that is primarily endorsed by Rick Ross, and many other notable names in the entertainment industry. Salute to the C.O.O Ra Scott “RA RA” and the C.E.O Johnny Kassflo on securing that partnership. I am also the Casting Director for Naija Wives of Atlanta , which airs on Afroland TV Network. This show is in its 3rd season, and has expanded from Toronto, Dallas, to Hollywood. I am now helping usher the show in here to Atlanta. Atlanta is now a Mecca for the film industry, so it makes sense. Salute to Abby Ayoola for the nod for my role. It seems like a-lot of responsibility to balance but one of the mottos I live by is “To whom much is given, much is required”.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
You know, coming from someone like myself that is very optimistic and has run his own business for over 3 years. (Salute Brand International LLC -Salute Tees) The most rewarding part is people being pleased with your service. Just recently though, I have really felt like more of my work has been recognized on larger platforms, and I’m excited to now be working with Atlanta Grammy Winning producer Mr. Hanky, who produced “Livin My Best Life” by Lil Duval, “Twerkulator” by the City Girls and “California” by Colonel Loud, which were all chart topping records. Seeing my hard work pay off has really been the most rewarding aspect for me. Truly grateful to God.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Yes there is! Though I’ve worked with producers like Polow da Don, Needlz, Focus3dots, BiggVon or artist/actor Zmny (Shameless) in the past, those experiences have propelled me to continue to work harder, to garner more respect from more industry professionals that I respect. To name a few, Ive opened for 1k Phew, Jeremih, Sisco,Trey Songz and Bobby V…even made it to the stage of The World Famous Apollo in New York City, but until I reach my ultimate goal which happens to be running my own investment firm, I’ll keep rubbing shoulders, until we get there! Lord willing, I’ll be able to give more opportunities to passion driven individuals, that believe in bringing creative and innovative resolutions to the world of today, rather than enforcing destruction.
