Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christian Mukes. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Christian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. The first dollar your business earns is always special and we’d love to hear how your brand made its first dollar of revenue.
The first client was booked after being referred by my grandmother. While at a church function, my grandmother began sharing with members of her religious group that her granddaughter (myself) had an event and wedding planning business. Of course, she bragged about how she taught me everything I know and expressed how confident she is in the work that I do. By the next day, a call was received ready to hire Unique Interactions for day of coordination for her daughter?s wedding.

Christian , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born into a family of ?cooks and perfectionists? who ran a local barbeque catering business for many years. While working the family owned business, I was taught by her grandmother to design catering displays, create ribbons, setup formal table settings, and of course, serve. While doing this, I began to decorate reception venues and the catering area. Over the years, I developed a love for planning events. Maybe it was the attention to the finer details, the perfection of symmetrical event d?cor, or simply just the passion for making memories that last a lifetime that brought me to the wonderful world of event planning.
During my collegiate years, I was very active and involved in planning and implementing events on the college campus. During my first official employment after college, I was responsible for planning community-wide events for the local governmental agency. This provided me with opportunities to work with state elected officials and celebrities. Thereafter, I began a career for one of the largest non-profit organizations in Houston, TX where I planned and coordinated several community events which I developed my experience in fundraising and budget management. Shortly after, I began my career in the event planning business.
In 2012, I founded Unique Interactions Event Planning & Consulting. I am now a Certified Event & Wedding Planner (CEP) with over 18 years of experience in event & wedding planning, d?cor, fundraising, budget management, and coordination services. My level of expertise has been displayed at events implemented within the collegiate setting, local government, non-profit, community, and individually-focused. Since then, I have traveled the world planning events. I love to dream up ideas and have ?A-ha!? moments and will put forth every effort to be sure each client is satisfied, which is how I became an ?Eventaholic?. We have been featured on Fox26 Houston, a local news station, in PEOPLE Magazine, Voyage Houston Magazine, and in AVID Magazine. My level of expertise has been displayed at some of the top events hosted by individuals as well as organizations in the Houston area earning Unique Interactions the 2018-2022 Wedding Wire Couples Choice Award.
I bring a unique perspective to the table, but alongside myself is Team Unique Interactions. The team consists of wonderful Event Planners and preferred vendors who provide quality services ranging from event planning to decor services for all types of events: weddings, anniversaries, corporate events, parties, galas, fundraising/sponsorship events, & more?consider us a ?one stop shop?. Together, the ultimate goal is to ensure that events are planned with a ?precise & exquisite attraction?!
How do you keep in touch with clients and foster brand loyalty?
When working with our clients we establish true bonds of trust. We maintain ethical practices and ?keep it real??there are no secrets. We listen to background stories, meet their family, here about personal finances and relationship goals. Overall, we support our clients and they become our unique family. After their event, the support continues.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
The best advice I can give is to invest in your team. Train, teach, and get to know them personally. Many of my team members have been with me since day 1 and they are fully aware that their efforts are greatly appreciated.
