Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Coach CGL. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Coach CGL, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I was overweight on the border of being obese. I had joint pain, stiffness, poor range of motion and poor eating habits (courtesy of the Standard American Diet).
I did not want to be in any of that pain nor acquire any chronic diseases so I decided to make a personal lifestyle change in my eating habits, my mental health as well as my spiritual health.
I started my eliminating red meat, chicken and pork from my diet. I lost an immediate 10 pounds in 6 months.
I gradually eliminated dairy products from my diet, I eliminated my “hay fever allergies” realizing that it was food allergens that affected my runny nose, sinus pressure.
When my inflammation decreased, I was able to exercise and regain my full range of motion in my shoulders, no joint stiffness. I was able to run, bike, walk, weight train and do yoga.
After my transformation, I heard a podcast host speak of the need for Nutrition Coaches from The Institute for Transformational Nutrition which employed Mind, Body and Spirit Nutrition which aligned with my idealogies.
I enrolled, completed the course and now I’m a certified Transformational Nutrition Coach
Christian, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I became a Nutrition Coach out of personal necessity and to eventually help Men in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s who are living with chronic aches and pains, pharmaceutically medicated due to those chronic illnesses looking to reverse the dependency on big pharma drugs, reduce or eliminate chronic aches and pains, educate them to empower them to take control of their health and wellness with the food that they eat, the company that they keep, and know that it is never too late to start a healthy lifestyle.
I am most proud of sharing my personal story with ITN obtaining a full scholarship.
I want potential clients to know that they are never too old and it is never too late to start to age well as opposed to getting old.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I used to run track in High School and was also very active physically. As I got into my 30’s and 40’s, I put on about 40 to 50 pounds.
I became more sedentary and less active to the point where I could not even stand up straight after prolonged sitting. I was stiff and could not walk without being in pain. I relied on over the counter meds to address the symptoms.
When I decided to embark on my transformation, I was reticent on abstaining from red meat and chicken. I was a professed meat lover and it was tough trying to reverse that.
I would drift and go back to a carnivore diet and just meat and potatoes (very little vegetables).
I as educated myself through books and documentaries, I realized my health was at stake and I slowly staved myself off of red meat, chicken and dairy and have been successful on accomplishing a meat and chicken free diet for over 10 years,
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
A true love and purpose for being a beacon and a success story for my clients.
