We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christian Google. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christian below.
Christian, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Growing up I never had entrepreneurship in my mind. I was raised by a single mother who I watched work 2 jobs most of the time. Always made sure I had any and everything I ever needed to succeed in life. As I got older I got wiser and experience became my best teacher. When I went to college I met individuals whom helped me change my perspective on how life could be verse how it actually was. I worked at Nike for about 5 years almost and while working there I was encourage by my peers to quit my job and work for myself. Around my 3rd year of working at nike I picked up the hobby of being a photographer and taking pictures. At the time I had no idea what the camera could actually do for me. About 2 months after picking up the camera I was given an opportunity to make photographer a career working with Trina. Living in Miami life was fast and I learned it’s not what you know but who you know. A peer of mine called me and told me to pull up to a location and bring my camera. That opportunity turned to me having a new mindset in what life could really be. I stayed at my job for about another 2 years but was still shooting and building my name up in the music industry as a photographer. I then noticed that my job was holding me back from how far I could actually grow in what I was doing. Therefore I took the risk of giving up my job and the consistent money for the dream of freedom. I invested in a new camera and took the risk of going after everything life had in front of me. It wasn’t an easy start and still isn’t easy until this day. But over time you just learn that you got to keep going. I think about all the days I worried and struggled and then look at where I am today. It’s motivating; because in the end it proves that better days are ahead. My faith in God has brought me so far and I know that he wouldn’t have given me this life or vision if it was not meant for me. I’m thankful for it all. And in the words of a artist by the name of FCG Heem, “Imagine if I never would have took a risk!”

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Well my name is Christian Google, and yes my last name is really Google like the website. I am 28 years old from Orlando, Fl. I started my career as a visual content director in Miami back in 2016 while attending FIU for college. I ask my family for a camera Christmas of 2015 to brand myself and my brand GoogleIsHuman. I had been in front of the camera and realized many people spend the most on marketing. I wouldn’t to be able to do that for myself and not depend on nobody else. I had no idea that meant I would be helping others with their vision, image, and pursing dreams of their own. I specialize in photography, videography, graphics, and anything visuals that I can create. As I stated in my taking a risk answer, I was presented with an opportunity to become something I never imagined shooting for Miami’s Very own Trina Rockstarr 2 months after getting my camera. I built a relationship with her and from day 1 the vibes were unmatched. Her allowing me to come in and just start working was life changing. Being around many people I just use to see on tv and listen to through my headphones was quite an experience. My work helps the individuals I work with build an image for their fans. From being behinds the scenes showing everything most fans want to see but don’t normally get to see; to seeing the final product in real form. I help bring the vision to life, giving creative ideas and also just presenting ideas I think would be dope for them to do. For example, BTS day in the life vlogs, lifestyle photos, and merch is something I am really good at. Also, music video ideas and just different ways to stand out and giving a different creative outlook at what clients are looking to do. If I had to there was something that set me apart from anybody else, it’s my passion in what I do. I am a natural care giver and I really care about my people and my craft. I take my craft very serious, and a lot of emotions comes behind what I do. In that case, I don’t like to put out just anything and if I present something it has been well thought out to the point all I need is the okay to get it done. In the music industry though, it is hard to find those artist that actually wanna just lock in and create on the level that I would prefer too. And from day 1 of getting into this I have accepted that but I know the right individual will cross paths with me one day and I will be able to display the fullness of my creative ability. I would say what I’m proud of the most is just my ability to always be a student and never giving up on the dream. Always remembering why I started this in the first place. I’ve been through a lot in this industry and because I care so much about what I do the scars cut deep. But it’s part of the process and everything I have been through has made me who I am today. Anybody that’s invested into my career as far as becoming potential clients, my followers, and fans is this; I am not perfect but I’m worth it. I have put in well over 10,000 hours and I’m still working. Working to be better than I was the day before, everyday! I have made it through some hard times on my own. I have had thoughts of just putting the camera down and finding something new. But in the end I know that this is my purpose and it’s what keep me going and alive everyday. Nobody told me the road would be easy! And I didn’t make it this far to make it this far. I’m a hustler, go getter, and I never give up on what I want in life.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect to me would be understanding that everything happened for me and not against me during the journey. The reward and success is fun and all. But the actual journey is way meaningful because you just really understand that you were meant to get through all. The long nights, the tears, the frustration ; everything was part of getting to the goal of success. Furthermore, just being able to be yourself and not having to feel like there is a right or wrong way to do what you do. As a creative it’s all about what you make it out to be. I tell my peers that a lot when it comes to photography; there is no right or wrong way to this art. Just find your niche and what you like and put it out. The ones who like it will support you and the ones that don’t it’s not meant for them.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
My best source for new clients has always been word of mouth. I get we are in a social media world now days but there’s nothing like word of mouth marketing. That’s why some work isn’t about money. Sometimes it’s about relationships and building that bond with your client. You don’t always know who somebody knows just because you do some work for them. But I can say they know who you are when you are doing work for them. Produce good work and build that relationship the $ will always come.
