Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Christian DiMaggio. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Christian thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
I actually am self-taught, I utilized Youtube University and watched countless tutorials, and read countless books on DSLR cameras, lighting, post editing etc. I could have been more consistent with my craft we as human beings learn from our mistakes, like a child learning to walk they learn how to stand up AFTER they’ve fallen down but they ALWAYS get back up. If I would have been more consistent, I could have made more mistakes earlier on in my career so that I could have learned from the “mistakes” sooner rather than later. The most essential skills truly are post-editing, being able to take photos of someone who is terrified of photos because of their acne or scars and then remove these imperfections to have them see WHO they really are is very gratifying. Only because the client’s reaction is usually so positive and often, at times, emotional. They see themselves as beautiful and worthy and me having even the slightest hand in helping to change their self-image for the better is always a win in my book. The only obstacle ever in life will always be YOU. YOU are your only obstacle, no one can make you lay down on that couch and watch that show instead of a tutorial to better yourself. No one can force you to eat that last piece of pizza, it is always you and once you take accountability for yourself and your actions it opens up a whole new world and re-frames your mental structure to start understanding that NO ONE can stop you but you.
Christian , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I fell in love with photography at the age of 14, with my 12-megapixel Kodak point & shoot I started my photography journey.
I never stopped taking photos and honing my retouching/post-editing skills and eventually became a multi-published fashion photographer that has had the privilege of working with celebrities and massive social media influencers.
“I am humbled by what I have experienced and have seen how people, after shooting with me, experience a major confidence boost. It was this ability to have people leave my sessions feeling empowered that really has pushed me to continue in this field.”
“We all have so much beauty in us and sometimes it takes someone else to show you exactly how uniquely, beautiful you are through their eyes or in our case lens!”

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
YES, so many some of my favorite are: Think & Grow RIch – Napoleon Hill
The Magic of Believing – Claude M. Bristol
The Magic of Thinking Big – David Schwartz
See you at the Top – Zig Ziegler
The Power of Positive Thinking – Norman Vincent Peale
Ask & It is Given – Jerry & Esther Hicks
These books are POWERFUL as the battlefield is always in the mind, therefore you must strengthen your mind. Your brain is a muscle and requires exercise like any other muscle in the body. If you do not stretch it, it will deteriorate. DO NOT LET YOUR MIND DIE, fill it with positive thoughts, visuals and light. For whatever enters your eye gates your heart and mind will be filled with.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
NFT’s are supercool, definitely kind of a fad but a legitimate investment vehicle for a quick return but takes time to research and understand so that you know what you are doing is correct. I own several NFTS and also trade CryptoCurrency on the side which I love, I was able to purchase a home with my Crypto profits. I love talking Crypto and actually help individuals get started in investing in this market.
DO NOT give your money to anyone reaching out to you saying they can make you money in Crypto if you send them the $$! The most absurd thing I have ever heard, they are playing on the emotional individuals who want to partake in this but do not understand or know where to get started on learning the skill. You catch a man a fish he eats for the day, you teach a man to fish and he eats for LIFE.
Feel free to reach out to me should you be interested in learning some more about Crypto, NFTS, and trading on the open market in general!
