We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christian Cabney. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christian below.
Christian, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
I have been a strong craft beer lover for years. There is something different with a high-quality brew crafted locally that tells a different story.
Over time, I’ve learned what each beer type should taste like, how is it brewed, and what to expect.
Since there are so many breweries in Omaha, NE, I thought it would be a great idea to highlight these breweries and support local.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I run a craft beer blog and brand called Omaha Brew Dog. The brand’s mission is to support local breweries and provide viewers with insights. With every post, I try to answer “Why would someone drink this brew over a domestic or import?” Many times, it is easy to answer that question.
Omaha has a large craft beer scene, so naturally the page has grown a small following.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My brand’s mission is to promote and highlight locally crafted beer. Large beer corporations like Anheuser-Busch and Coors own a large percentage of the American beer market. But what many people don’t know is that there are breweries a couple blocks away creating and experimenting with high quality outputs.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
No one wants to listen to a well-seasoned craft beer drinker who uses unknown terminology to describe beers.
My strategy is to describe brews in a way that anyone would understand. Example:
Flavors include hints of orange and citrus fruits with a nice balance of bitterness from the Citra hops.
