We were lucky to catch up with Christi Wells recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christi, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
I was a House Manager & Nanny in College. I worked mostly with busy professionals with young children. They all valued the same things: Time, Family, & Passions. I use to think that money was the answer, but it was just a tool to have more of what was most important to them. It really changed my idea about time and money. Now I look at everything from a time lens. I operate my business being flexible with time, efficient with time, respecting my team’s time, and helping my clients reclaim their time. When problems arise, I decide if the problem is worth the time being frustrated over or just find a solution. When I watched the parents I worked with in College they outsourced what took time and redirected their time to what they were really good at. They were always well rested even though they worked very hard. The secret, prioritizing time and creating time!

Christi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m Christi Wells, founder and CEO of All the Small Things. We’re based in Austin, Texas and also serve Houston, San Antonio, and the Dallas area. I started the company when I was deep in the trenches of motherhood, juggling a toddler and a newborn, and realizing how impossible it felt to keep up with everything. I didn’t need someone to “clean the house,” I needed real, supportive help. The kind that understands life is messy and still shows up.
That’s the heart of what we do at All the Small Things. We offer hands-on home assistance for people who are stretched thin. It might be laundry, light organizing, a pantry reset, errands, or just having a second set of hands to bring a little order back to a chaotic week. It’s the kind of support that doesn’t always have a clear title, but makes a huge difference.
What makes us different is how much we care about the people behind the tasks. We know there’s usually something bigger going on when someone reaches out—stress, burnout, big life transitions, or just feeling like they’re falling behind. We’re not here to judge. We’re here to help make things feel manageable again.
I’m most proud of the trust our clients place in us. The messages we get saying, “I finally feel like I can breathe,” or “I didn’t realize how much I needed this,” remind me why this work matters. It’s not just about tidy spaces. It’s about giving people space to rest, reset, and focus on what really matters to them.
All the Small Things is built on the belief that you don’t have to do it all yourself. And you’re not failing if you need support. You’re human. We’re here when you need a hand.

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
I received a phone call of someone inquiring about our services. She decided to purchase a $500 gift card for her daughter in Austin. In our conversation I learned she lived in another one of our service areas and let her know we had home assistants available in her town should she ever need support. She had a client that she was also shopping for and decided to purchase another $500 gift card for them! I made $1000 in about 10 minutes. It’s all about connecting with people and helping in an authentic way.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Like many founders, Atomic Habits really helped me reframe my ideas around goal setting and staying motivated long term.
I love GRIT: The Power of Passion and Perseverance by Angela Lee Duckworth. She defines grit as the combination of passion and perseverance over the long term and argues that it’s often a stronger predictor of success than talent or intelligence. Her research has influenced the way I think about resilience, especially in business and personal growth. It’s a reminder that showing up consistently matters more than being perfect from the start. I am currently working through TRACTION and implementing takeaways into my business.
