We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Christi Pratte. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Christi below.
Christi, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s jump right into how you came up with the idea?
They say from the hardest falls come the greatest rises. And I guess you could say that’s what started the writing career I’m blessed to have today. In 2018 I encountered one of the most challenging years of my life and I knew I had two options– stand or stay. I chose to stand and face the road ahead and use the circumstances to grow. I reframed the challenges as a an opportunity to get honest with myself and deepen into what it was I was being called to do in this lifetime. I spent most of 2019 in that place of reflection, transformation, and healing. In the aftermath, my digital platform HustlePretty.Co was born– this is a space I use to share stories of empowerment, strength and resiliency. The brand name was inspired by the cover art of one of Carrie Underwood’s albums– Cry Pretty. On it, she had mascara tears running down her face yet they were glossed over with glitter. I was instantly drawn to the power of the contrast in that image. To me, it represented that we can find the beauty in the darkest of times if we choose to. And that’s the message I wanted to capture with HustlePretty.Co.
Prior to my writing career, I was working 5+ jobs for 7 years. I was a kindergarten teacher, kickboxing instructor, tutor, barista, and waitress. I loved everything I was doing and felt a deep sense of fulfillment being able to serve others in these ways, which I believe is what kept me out of burn out. However, as humans, I believe we’re designed to evolve and our passions are no exception. I became very passionate about writing and sharing messages of inspiration. In 2016, I started blogging on my first platform that was called The Passion Warrior Project (which has since been rebranded into HustlePretty.Co). From there I began contributing to larger platforms. It all aligned so beautifully that I gained enough traction and readership to begin my dream of writing full-time at the start of 2020.
I believe we are all given gifts and talents that are masterfully placed within us to help others in a way only we can. As 2020 unfolded, I became increasingly passionate about using my gifts to help others amplify their voices and stories. This is when I founded Ghost Girl – a freelance writing service for women entrepreneurs, although not exclusively. I didn’t know if it would be successful or not, but I did know that it was necessary… I could feel it in my heart. And when you mix passion, talent, and purpose you inevitably create something amazing. I’m fortunate to say that energy has attracted clients of similar passion, purpose and talent who I’m honored to serve. I love watching as they create massive impact within the world and being able to assist them in doing so!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I shared the backstory of how I got into the writing industry above…it was a bit of a wild and unexpected ride! And I want to add that it’s so important to take risks and bet on yourself. When you’re passionate about something, people can feel that. I’m forever thankful for the bigger platforms that took a chance on me and brought me to where I am today. I share this because I see so many people count themselves out before they even give themselves a chance to be considered. So whatever your dream is, be bold in pursuing it ~ you never know where the “YES” lies.
As far as the services I provide, I’m a copywriter/content ghostwriter for mostly women-owned businesses and entrepreneurs. I study my clients thoroughly so I can capture their unique voice and infuse it into the content we create. My clients are very busy serving others with their brands and businesses, which makes it difficult for them to find the time to write, especially if they struggle with writer’s block. My mission with Ghost Girl is to alleviate these hurdles that may be holding them back from sharing their vital voices, ideas and stories with the world by taking on the pen and creating polished pieces they can hit publish on and reach more people with.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Watching other people live out their dreams and passions while helping others in the process…hands down! To me, it’s like one giant puzzle. We all hold different pieces that make the dream come together, and when we utilize them, we uplift each other and create something beautiful!
Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
For me, the power of collaboration! Truly it’s amazing how many people want to help you succeed, share your gift, and reach more people. When you show up authentically, with full integrity, you’ll be surprised at how many people want to support you. I wish I didn’t hold myself back early on out of intimidation and fear of rejection. However, it did teach me a lot about my own potential and how to cultivate courage…I’m grateful for the lessons!
