We were lucky to catch up with Christa Stephens recently and have shared our conversation below.
Christa, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
At our company, we recognize that when clients come on board with us, they are entrusting us with something incredibly valuable to them—their business, which they have nurtured and grown with passion. We take this responsibility to heart, and we handle their business with the utmost care.
One particular experience comes to mind, which truly showcases our untraditional approach to client advocacy. We had been working closely with a client who was facing immense challenges in their business. During our regular Zoom meetings, we created a safe space where not only business matters were discussed, but emotions were also given space to be heard.
In one of these sessions, as we delved deeper into their struggles and aspirations, the emotions became overwhelming. Tears were shed, and in that vulnerable moment, a powerful connection was formed. It was a moment of shared understanding and empathy, as we acknowledged the hardships of being a business owner.
What made this experience remarkable was our ability to embrace the human side of our client’s journeys. We didn’t shy away from those raw emotions; instead, we embraced them and provided support beyond the traditional boundaries of a business relationship. We became advocates not only for their business but also for their well-being and emotional resilience.
Through these genuine connections, we created an environment where creativity could flourish. We fostered a safe space for our clients to express themselves fully, knowing that we were there to listen, support, and uplift them.
This untraditional approach to client advocacy has deepened our relationships and enhanced the value we bring to their businesses. Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for us has been referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations. They share their success stories with others, whether it’s through personal conversations, online reviews, or social media posts. This organic form of marketing has been incredibly powerful for us.
In addition to referrals, we also leverage the power of networking events and online platforms to expand our reach and connect with potential clients. Attending industry conferences, participating in local business groups, and engaging in online communities have allowed us to showcase our expertise, build relationships, and generate new leads.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
Absolutely! Personal growth and self-care are essential to my management and entrepreneurial philosophy. Here are some resources that have significantly influenced my thinking:
1. Meditation: I practice meditation to stay centered and maintain mental clarity. It helps me cultivate mindfulness, reduce stress, and gain perspective in both my personal and professional life.
2. Therapy: I firmly believe in the power of therapy for personal growth and emotional well-being. It has been instrumental in helping me develop self-awareness, overcome challenges, and improve my relationships.
3. Reading List: One book that has had a profound impact on me is “Set Boundaries, Find Peace” by Nedra Glover Tawwab. It explores the importance of setting healthy boundaries in various aspects of life, including work, relationships, and self-care. It has helped me establish clear boundaries and prioritize my well-being.
By incorporating these practices into my life, I’ve been able to nurture a healthy mindset, maintain a balanced approach to work and personal life, and foster meaningful connections with others.
