We were lucky to catch up with Christa Carter-Williams recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Christa, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
When I think about the legacy I want to leave, it’s not just about my businesses or the projects I’ve poured my heart into—it’s about the story I’m telling through my life. I want my two businesses, Christa and the City and The Pink Balloon Creative Studio, to stand as proof that passion and purpose can create something not just successful but also sustainable. With The Pink Balloon Creative Studio, my goal is to build a creative, joy-filled foundation that my husband and I can pass down to our four incredible kids. I want it to be something that supports them long after we’re gone, giving them the option to continue what we’ve started or use it as a stepping stone to chase their own dreams.
I hope people will remember me as someone who showed them that you don’t have to live by anyone else’s rules. You can live life on your own terms, pursue what lights you up inside, and still thrive. Whether you’re a party stylist, an artist, a fashion influencer, a restaurant critic, or anything else that speaks to your soul—there’s room for you to build the life you want and make a living from it.
And why not try all the things? Life is too short to box yourself in! Whether it’s pursuing multiple passions or building a life that feels uniquely yours, I want people to know that they have the freedom to explore it all.
I also want to be remembered for creating joy. Whether it’s helping a family celebrate milestones with my creative studio or inspiring someone to step out in confidence with a look I shared on Christa and the City, my hope is that people think of me and feel a little more empowered to make their own moments of magic.
At the end of the day, I want my legacy to be a blend of love, creativity, and possibility—a reminder that you can turn your dreams into something beautiful and lasting.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve always been an artist—it’s just who I am. One of my earliest memories is being about three years old and determined to draw Tweety Bird. I found a picture, studied it, and drew it. When I proudly showed my mom, she asked if I had traced it. Of course, I hadn’t! That moment sparked something in her, and she enrolled me in all kinds of art classes to nurture my creativity. That was the beginning of my journey.
Fast forward to my wedding—that’s where my career really started. My invitation designer created the most stunning invitations, and I was so inspired that I wanted to try making something just as beautiful. After some research, I designed and crafted matching programs for my wedding, and they turned out beautifully. Soon, people started asking me to create invitations and other paper products for their events, and from there, it all bloomed. Over the years, my business evolved through many stages to become what it is today: The Pink Balloon Creative Studio.
At The Pink Balloon Creative Studio, we specialize in designing and styling unforgettable celebrations. From creating custom invitations to handcrafting wood backdrops, designing balloon décor, and curating full party setups, we transform your vision into a stunning reality. My goal is to take the stress out of party planning while adding a personalized, creative touch that makes every event unique.
What sets us apart is the artistry behind everything we create. Every design and decoration is a labor of love, crafted with care and intention. Whether it’s a chic backdrop, a vibrant balloon arrangement, or a themed party package, I take pride in making every detail perfect. And the kids—have you ever seen the joy on a child’s face when they first walk into a decorated party that’s just for them? Or the excitement when they see an amazing balloon arrangement created just for their special day? Pure joy. I love that.
What I’m most proud of is seeing those moments of happiness on my clients’ faces—adults and kids alike. Knowing I’ve helped make someone’s special day even more memorable means the world to me.
For potential clients and followers, I want you to know that The Pink Balloon Creative Studio isn’t just about décor—it’s about creating moments of magic and joy. Whether you’re planning a milestone celebration, a corporate event, or an intimate gathering, my goal is to help you bring your vision to life in a way that feels effortless, creative, and completely you.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
My first major pivot happened early in my adulthood when I became a mother. Having my first child completely shifted my perspective and priorities. I knew I wanted to always be available for her—to be there for the little moments as much as the big ones. That realization set me on the path to finding a career where I could work from home most of the time, create my own hours, and still do something I truly loved.
I wanted to create a life where I could be present for my family while also pursuing meaningful work that fulfilled me creatively. It wasn’t always easy, but I knew it was worth it to build something that aligned with my values and allowed me to show up fully for the people I care about most.
Thankfully, I also have an amazing husband and partner to help along the way. Together, we’ve built a life where we can balance our family’s needs while supporting each other’s goals. Having that partnership has been instrumental in making it all work.
That’s when I began shaping a career that allowed me to balance being present for my family with following my creative passions. Over time, that choice evolved into what is now The Pink Balloon Creative Studio, a business that lets me embrace my artistry while maintaining the flexibility I need as a mom.
That pivot taught me the importance of designing a life that works for you and your unique circumstances. It showed me that it’s okay to create your own path and actively pursue what matters most. That lesson has shaped not just my career but also the way I approach life as a whole.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think one of the biggest misconceptions non-creatives have about a creative journey is the idea that there’s only one path to success—their path or the one they were told to take. For creatives, the road to success is rarely linear, and that’s what makes it so exciting! It’s full of twists, turns, and opportunities to try new things, experiment, and grow in unexpected ways.
Another thing I’d love to shed light on is how fulfilling a creative career can be. Yes, you can absolutely make plenty of money as a creative—let’s not downplay that! But it’s also about so much more. It’s about the joy that comes from building something with your own hands, bringing ideas to life, and seeing the impact your work has on others. For me, seeing a child’s face light up when they see a beautifully decorated party or hearing a client say, “This is exactly what I dreamed of!” is priceless.
A creative career allows you to find purpose and fulfillment in the process, not just the result. It reminds you that work can be joyful, meaningful, and a reflection of who you are. So, to anyone wondering if it’s worth pursuing a creative path: it absolutely is. Success might look a little different, but it feels amazing, and it’s entirely yours to define.
