We recently connected with Chrissy Taylor and have shared our conversation below.

Chrissy, appreciate you joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?

In 2022, I had the opportunity to go to Miami to be featured on a women’s empowerment billboard showcasing plus-size women for Mesh Dollhouse. It was during my time in Miami, when I discovered that I wanted to pursue a creative path professionally as a model.

My experience in Miami with Mesh Dollhouse included a beach photoshoot, power shoot networking event, billboard reveal party, and a photoshoot with Vivid Magazine. It was during this epic weekend when I realized that this could be my life. I could travel the world for photoshoots and be featured on billboards and in magazines. Ever since this experience, I have been working diligently to perfect my craft as a model. Aiming to turn my passion into a full-time career.

Chrissy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

As a plus-size petite model with two years of experience, I specialize in print modeling. I love shooting high-fashion, lifestyle, and artsy photoshoots. I began modeling when I discovered the body positive movement. I started out as a fashion influencer and quickly discovered my love for being in front of the camera. Being in front of the camera gives me a confidence boost. I aim to inspire other women to love their shapes and live boldly through my photos.

As a freelance model, I often create my own concepts for my photoshoots. I’m so smitten with this creative process that I’m stepping into the role of creative director! It is this unique characteristic that sets me apart from other models. Not only can I model a brand, but I can also produce fresh concepts to highlight the brand creatively.

I am most proud of my creative photoshoots. I don’t just create pretty pictures, I turn my body into art, crafting out-of-the-box concepts that showcase my creativity.

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?

I am currently pivoting in my career as a model. Finding local gigs as a freelance model has been a challenge, so I’m diving into creative directing. I’m teaming up with my model sister to offer directing services to aspiring models, helping them build their portfolios with artistic concepts. I am excited about this pivot because I will still be able to use my creative abilities while helping other models. Although I love the creative process, being in-front of the camera as a model is where I thrive. I will continue working as a freelance model during this pivot.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?

The most rewarding aspect of being a creative? Watching your vision come to life! I plan my photoshoots from start to finish, and its pure magic to see everything click together—from brainstorming a concept, crafting mood boards, shopping for outfits, to the final shoot. That joy of seeing your vision captured in a photo is beyond words! Then to be able to put the work out for others to enjoy! And no matter how the world reacts, I’ll always stand tall and proud of the art I create!
