We recently connected with Chrissy O’Donnal and have shared our conversation below.
Chrissy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
Watching dancers get the lightbulb moment, where it all just clicks, is an amazing moment for each dancer and teacher. Watching a dancer who’s worked hard to get where they are is amazing! The moment you see them and get teary eyed because it all just fell into place for them is by far my favorite. And the confidence that comes from that will take them far.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
We started 19 years ago with 2 studio rooms teaching dance to children. While I know we bring more to their lives than dance, that’s what people see at first glance. We have expanded 2 more times and just renovated our existing facility. The dancers also got a beautiful dressing room and we are loving our expanded office. We start dancers at 2 years old and help them find the thing they love most about dance. It might be the family environment or comradery. It might be the physical fitness or a click they have with a certain faculty member. Or it might be the passion that leads them to the competitive side. We have a space and program for all these dancers.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I think every business that is still standing can tell you the story of resilience after a pandemic. Changing it up, meeting new guidelines and pivoting were what was necessary to stay afloat. We switched classes to zoom, we alternated days of the week according to alphabet when dancers could come in, and we sent messages and postcards in the mail to our dancers to let them know we’re still here with them. It was a lonely time for many but especially the children. Through social media and zoom and texting and snail mail we did all we could to let them know we’re better together and can get through this. We are very blessed with an amazing Dance family and the pandemic has brought everyone closer together. It’s a true family environment.
Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
We love keeping in touch with past dance families. We love seeing them come visit every year at recital or even help us set up each year. They show up for everyone even long after they’ve graduated. We’ve seen them at funerals and weddings to show the support for this amazing dance family! Social media has made it so easy to be able to stay connected. You have to stay on top of it and let them know they are still thought of and loved. We can’t wait to celebrate 20 years next year and bring back our alumni!
