We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Chrissy Lawler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Chrissy below.
Hi Chrissy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
When I had my first baby, I vividly remember the overwhelming exhaustion and confusion that came with new motherhood. I was sleep-deprived, anxious, and drowning in a sea of contradictory advice—especially when it came to baby sleep. I wanted to be the best mom I could be, but I felt lost and unsupported. At the same time, I knew deep down there had to be a better way—one that empowered parents rather than making them feel ashamed or inadequate.
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I had already dedicated years of study to what it takes for women to thrive in motherhood. I began to see how deeply connected sleep, emotional well-being, and thriving as a mom really were. I also realized that much of the advice out there about baby sleep was missing the mark—it was either too rigid, too dismissive of parents’ instincts, or too guilt-laden.
That’s when the idea for The Peaceful Sleeper began to take shape. I saw a problem no one was solving effectively: helping parents find a sleep solution that not only worked but also aligned with their values and supported a secure attachment. I poured myself into research, bridging the science of sleep with the emotional and psychological needs of both babies and parents.
Starting this business felt right because I knew firsthand how transformative better sleep could be—not just for babies, but for the entire family. It’s not just about getting more rest; it’s about finding joy in motherhood and creating space for women to thrive, not just survive. The excitement for me was—and still is—knowing that I could help moms step out of survival mode, feel confident in their choices, and embrace a motherhood journey full of love, connection, and good sleep.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who may not be familiar with me or The Peaceful Sleeper, I’m Chrissy, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. My journey into this field was deeply personal—I became a sleep consultant after experiencing firsthand the overwhelming exhaustion and anxiety that come with being a new mom who just wants the best for her baby. I knew there had to be a better way to approach baby sleep, one that was both effective and truly supportive for parents.
At The Peaceful Sleeper, we provide comprehensive resources to help families navigate baby and toddler sleep challenges with confidence and ease. Our services include personalized consultations, age-based content libraries with courses and video guides, free resources, and expert guidance tailored to each family’s unique needs.
What sets us apart is that we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to baby sleep. Instead, we honor your instincts, pay close attention to your baby’s cues, and use evidence-based strategies to create solutions that align with your family’s goals and values. Our team of sleep consultants brings decades of experience and has worked with thousands of families—we’ve truly “seen it all” and “solved it all.”
I’m especially proud of the way we help parents make confident decisions about their baby’s sleep without feeling judged or overwhelmed. Sleep is transformative—it’s not just about getting more rest, but about rediscovering joy in motherhood and creating space for your family to thrive.
At the heart of it all, I want parents to know that motherhood is hard, and it’s okay to ask for help. You deserve support that meets you where you are. My goal is for every parent to feel empowered, informed, and capable of achieving better sleep—not just for their baby, but for their whole family.

Any fun sales or marketing stories?
One of my favorite marketing stories is from when my oldest daughter turned 10. To mark this milestone in my journey as a mom, I wanted to do something special, something that could make a real impact. I decided to give back to new moms and families in a big way: for the entire month of March, we offered our newborn sleep course for free—no strings attached. The goal was simple: to help moms feel supported during one of the most challenging times of their lives.
At the time, it felt like a huge risk. Would we be able to make a meaningful impact? Would we look back and feel like it wasn’t the right move? But I knew deep down that this was the right decision. As a therapist and pediatric sleep consultant, I’ve seen the transformative power of sleep on mental health, well-being, and overall joy in motherhood. I wanted to share that gift with as many families as possible.
The response was incredible. With the help of influencers, followers, and moms supporting other moms, we ended up donating over $2.2 million worth of newborn resources. The feedback we received was overwhelming—messages from parents who felt more confident, less anxious, and more connected with their babies.
The true success wasn’t just about the value of the resources donated—it was about the lives that were touched and the sense of community and support that grew during that campaign. It was a reminder that when we come together to support each other, we can change the world!
