We recently connected with Chrissy Goobache and have shared our conversation below.
Chrissy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I started singing and performing early, at the age of 3. I went and recorded my first professional song at the age of 14 in the studio, but I never took it seriously. It was always a hobby until the age of 22 and 8 years of my life passed by where I had wasted my time on things that weren’t sustainable. So, to answer your question, yes. I wish I had started my business and sung more consistently a lot earlier all of the time, but all in all life always works out how its suppose to and I’m grateful for the journey.
Chrissy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ariyon Wells, professionally known as Chrissy Goobache and I am a singer/songwriter and Co-founder of Cruzn Cozy Records. Cruzn Cozy Records is a record label and management company that was founded by myself and Tamia Wells, who is also my lovely mother/manager. The initial concept of Cruzn Cozy Records derived from my clothing brand that I started in 2017. My mother was my business partner with that business as well, but it wasn’t until February of 2021 that I transitioned the company from clothing to entertainment and decided to pursue music full time while releasing my first single under our record label. We were releasing music for a year under Cruzn Cozy Records until we decided to register our business in the state of California, to make business more official.
Starting out, Cruzn Cozy Records was only for me to release my music independently but the mission of the label has evolved far beyond our imagination. As of today, Cruzn Cozy Records wants to help more independent artist with developing their entrepreneurial skills and professionalism. We would like to generate more jobs for the underprivileged and expand to an international audience, as well as opening a performing arts academy in Washington, DC (our hometown) for the low income communities. The academy will offer private school education with public school prices. Incorporating religious studies with performing arts studies as the main focus, while also continuing the legacy of our late grandmother Mary E. Wells. This academy will be an expansion of Cruzn Cozy Records.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I would like to win a Grammy, of course, but I also would like to get a key to my city (Washington, DC). More importantly I would like to open up an academy in remembrance and honor of my grandmother, and I want to impact the lives of others. My Godly duties and altruism is what drives my creative journey.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative is seeing the impact and influence of your music manifest through other peoples reactions. I created one song with the subject of togetherness for a musical competition. I didn’t really put a lot of time or energy into the song, but when I uploaded it I had a stranger comment and say my song was exactly what they needed. That is the rewarding part of being an artist, creating something for other people to enjoy.
