We were lucky to catch up with Chrissy Cavotta recently and have shared our conversation below.
Chrissy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Every single business related idea that I have ever had starts with a brainstorming chart. You know, like the ones we were taught in middle school? Those are the best way for me personally to get all of my thoughts out on paper. Super old school, I know. The first fashion show I ever had was to generate business to the clothing boutique that I owned at the time. After the very first show, I was completely enamored with events. From the early phases of planning all the way to production and execution. This was something that I was never “taught.” I had to troubleshoot and navigate through situations using my very best judgement. An idea is really nothing without the execution portion. See the vision, create the vison.

Chrissy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am Chrissy Cavotta, owner of Events by Chrissy Cavotta. I am an event planner with over 12 years of event planning experience specializing in fashion shows, business launches, theme parties and food centric events. The customer service that my team and I provide is what sets us apart, we really go above and beyond for clients and guests to ensure that they receive the most outstanding experience possible when it comes to our events. I am most proud of the fact that this business was built from scratch and I also pride myself in original and organic party and event themes.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Being a resilient person is such a gift when it comes to anything business related. I believe that just being a business owner in the current climate of the word displays resilience. Being able to roll with the punches and pivot as needed to make a business succeed and thrive takes a lot of courage, grit and fortitude. My story of resilience is ongoing, every day there is a new chapter to read in my book!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
This is a good one. I had to unlearn to be so trusting of everyone I encounter. Not everyone has your best interest in mind. It’s pretty crazy, because I am 38 years old and this is something I really learned the hard way this year. By nature, I want to assume everyone is kind hearted and trustworthy, but that is unfortunately not the reality. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion, but always be cautious and protect your heart, mind, spirit, soul…and business.
